Fans who attended the German Gamescom 2012 convention this weekend got a little something special from MEGA Brands as a surprise–an exclusive World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Jade Chen Stormstout figure! This is the second WoW Mega Bloks figure to be released as an exclusive, as the legendary Thrall was an exclusive last year at Blizzcon 2011.
This is the very first World of Warcraft Mega Bloks Pandaren figure, and the sculpt looks pretty darn awesome. The figure looks much bulkier than any of the WoW Mega Bloks figures released in the first wave of sets, and the use of the shiny green “jade” paint really brings out the details of the figure (albeit looking a little odd).
Chen Stormstout will be an NPC (non-playable character) in the upcoming World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria expansion. The wandering Brewmaster Chen Stormstout actually debuted back in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, and he also previously appeared in the World of Warcraft CCG (Collectible Card Game).
It’s pretty unthinkable that we won’t see another Pandaren figure at mass retail, especially since this one is painted pure green, but there’s no telling how long we’ll have to wait for that figure and if it will be called Chen Stormstout when it does arrive! In addition, it’s questionable as to whether or not any kind of “Brewmaster” accessories are going to be able to be released at mass retail in sets aimed at children.
If you want this figure and you’re not able to acquire it from one of the conventions MEGA Brands attends, your only real option for buying the Jade Chen Stormstout is buying it from an auction site. The Jade Chen Stormstout exclusive figure was a limited edition of just 5000 produced, and is likely to cost a fair amount on the aftermarket, particularly since it was only available in Europe at a German convention. If I had to make an educated guess based upon past experience, I’d say that the Jade Chen (Jade) exclusive figure will stabilize around $29-$35 on the secondary market, though it will likely be a bit tough to track down at all.
