When rumors began to swirl regarding the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2015 sets lineup, there’s one set that stood out as universally interesting to fans: the LEGO Star Wars Death Star Final Duel 75093 set! While the set has been shown at European Toy Fairs earlier this year, LEGO finally allowed press to take hi-res photos of the 75093 LEGO Death Star Final Duel at New York Toy Fair 2015 this morning!
And when it comes to epic scenes from Star Wars Episode VI, what’s more iconic than the climactic duel between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker (with Emperor Palpatine tossed in for laughs)?
When I initially heard about this set, I didn’t think it would make sense to include more than the three obvious minifigures. But there are actually five: two LEGO Emperor’s Royal Guards plus the obligatory LEGO Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader minifigures.
The new LEGO Darth Vader figure in this set is especially cool, as he comes with a removable helmet to show Anakin’s handsome mug underneath! Unfortunately, he wasn’t displayed unmasked at the NY Toy Fair today, but the box does make special mention of this feature.
As expected, the new LEGO Emperor Palpatine includes the two-tone lightning attachments that the Storm minifigure came with last year. Man, he looks evil!
The playset itself has everything you’d expect from a Death Star Duel themed environment, including slick windows and the Emperor’s legendary throne.
The LEGO Death Star Final Duel set will contain 724 pieces and have a $79.99 price when it hits the US in June 2015. That’s a pretty expensive price and a below average value, but with Episode VII hype in full swing by this summer, I’d imagine this set will fly out of stores regardless.
I’ll be posting individuals articles for each and every LEGO Star Wars set officially unveiled this weekend at the 2015 New York Toy Fair, so be sure to ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook if you’d like news and photos sent straight to your Facebook Newsfeed whenever a new article is published.
What do you think of the Summer 2015 LEGO Star Wars Death Star Final Duel 75093 set, LEGO fans? Is this a worthy climax (for now) before we transition into the sequel-era LEGO Star Wars sets?
I was always wondering why they didn’t have a set like this. Relatively easily expandable by people with lots of imagination and lots of gray bricks!!
Does Darth Vader’s hands fit around the emperor’s neck somehow? 🙂
Disney’s unmasked Vader looks rather friendly. 😉
And u think thats a GOOD thing? -_-
No idea where you get that impression.
