When I asked what from last week’s 2014 Toy Fair International readers wanted to see and hear about next after the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets, I assumed that fans would be asking to hear about the Summer 2014 LEGO Legends of Chima sets or even the LEGO Arctic sets. Nope! The overwhelming crowd favorite turns out to be the all-new LEGO Ultra Agents Summer 2014 theme! So I’ll begin with the smallest of the upcoming Ultra Agents sets: LEGO Riverside Raid 70160!
The 70160 LEGO Ultra Agents Riverside Raid set is the smallest and lowest-priced of the six LEGO Ultra Agents sets scheduled to kick off the line in August 2014. The will feature two exclusive LEGO minifigures: LEGO Agent Max Burns minifigure and a LEGO Adam Acid minifigure.
Adam Acid appears to be some sort of toxic waste-powered supervillain character, whereas youthful LEGO Max Burns reminds me of Ron Weasley of Harry Potter fame. A bunch of minifigures of guys (and gals) wearing suits could have gotten very old, very fast, but the fun expression on Agent Max Burns’ face won me over in an instant.
A bunch of minifigures of guys (and gals) wearing suits could have gotten very old, very fast, but the fun expression on Agent Max Burns’ face won me over in an instant. I also really like the idea of the LEGO Ultra Agents fighting a team of villains who are superhuman–it makes things feel a lot more fantastical than having the team fight ordinarily, run-of-the-mill villains.
The LEGO Adam Acid minifigure doesn’t get a vehicle of his own, but he does come with some storage containers that he can pull around, which seem to contain a sort of radioactive material. Could this be the means for Adam Acid’s world conquest?!
Meanwhile, LEGO Agent Max Burns comes with the central portion of the set: a LEGO ATV. We’ve seen plenty of LEGO ATVs in the past, but the one included in the Ultra Agents LEGO Riverside Raid 70160 set is unique in that the top part of the ATV can break off from the body and function independently as a LEGO Jetski! I wish I had one of those!
LEGO 70160 is expected to be released in August 2014. The LEGO Ultra Agents Riverside Raid 70160 set will contain 88 pieces and retail for $11.99 in stores. That’s a bit above my ideal price point of 10 cents per piece–especially on a non-licensed set–but I’m going to try to not complain about that with this theme, as LEGO is giving us the “free” app digital content alongside of each set.
I’ll be posting my photos and impressions of the rest of the LEGO Ultra Agents Summer 2014 sets over the next week, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and updates sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.
What do you think of the lowest-priced entry in the new Ultra Agents LEGO theme (and the Ron Weasley wannabe minifigure included with it), LEGO fans?
Nice items.
