Considering how many LEGO video games LEGO is cranking out each year, it shouldn’t come as a major shocker to anybody that Warner Bros. and TT Games are producing an all-new The LEGO Movie video game to coincide with The LEGO Movie film coming to theaters in 2014! Now, movie tie-in games are usually sort of mediocre, so this news may sound kind of “Ehn”. Of course, not every movie tie-in game is for a movie that features LEGO versions of Batman, Superman, NBA Players and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…
By now we’ve all seen the trailer for The 2014 LEGO Movie, in which the mild-mannered Emmet minifigure is declared the Master Builder and given the glorious task of saving the world from… something. I have sort of mixed feelings about the quality of that first trailer’s contents, but there’s no denying that the idea of a video game adaptation of a film starring LEGO minifigures from throughout the ages has “awesome” written all over it.
Want to play as a LEGO Minifigures Series Mermaid, or as some NBA Basketball players minifigures? Want to beat up a LEGO Batman using a LEGO Kobe Bryant minifigure? With over 90 LEGO minifigures from throughout history being featured in the 15 level video game, you just may get that chance when the LEGO Movie video game comes out next year!
If you own pretty much any current or upcoming video game console–or a computer–TT Games has you covered! You’re going to be able to play the LEGO Movie video game on the current Wii U, XBox 360, Playstation 3 (PS3), Vita or 3DS. It can also be played on a PC. And if you’re investing in a next-gen video game console this winter, you’ll be able to play the LEGO Movie Video game next year on the Playstation 4 (PS4) or the XBox One!
The LEGO Movie videogame will be released in 2014 around the same time as the LEGO Movie film is released in theaters. I think this game has perhaps more potential for including minifigures from a huge variety of themes than any video game before it, so I’ll keep on top of the news for the LEGO Movie video game and post updates whenever something particularly exciting or newsworthy comes up.
