After months of shopping and preparations, we’ve finally reached Christmas Week 2015! Moving on from my discussions of the sets likely to be the most popular in the LEGO Avengers Age of Ultron theme, today I’ll be chatting about the set that I think will almost unquestionably be the least popular one of the half-dozen LEGO Marvel Age of Ultron sets coming out in April 2015. It contains no unique characters not available in any other set, and no vehicles that are likely to become iconic, but perhaps its low price will help it sell adequately anyway: it’s the LEGO Avengers Duel with Hydra 76030 set!

The big news this week in the LEGO world is indisputably the surprise unveiling of the LEGO Avengers Age of Ultron sets that happened to kick off the week. Last night I posted about the complete lineup of mass-release LEGO Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron sets, and now it’s time to step back and take a close look at the sets, one at a time!

LEGO has done a superb job of keeping the LEGO Marvel 2015 sets under wraps, with basically zero images of any of the sets leaking out until now (no, the teaser they put in their LEGO Designer video for the LEGO Helicarrier absolutely does not count).
But the Avengers: Age of Ultron movie is now under half a year away, and it appears that the time for secrecy is at an end! Via their own German catalog, LEGO has now revealed a half-dozen 2015 LEGO Avengers Age of Ultron sets!

Rarely is a LEGO set that isn’t some sort of exclusive and doesn’t have “LEGO Star Wars” in the name end up being one of the absolute most-anticipated LEGO sets of the year, and never has one of those sets contained mini-dolls instead of minifigures. But there’s a first time for everything, and this is it, Frozen fans! What you’ve all been waiting for since the set was announced in the fall: I haven’t found it yet myself, but various online sellers have now received and started selling the LEGO Frozen Elsa’s Castle 41062 set!

Over the weekend I chatted up a storm about the upcoming LEGO Elves Azari’s Bakery 41074 set, but that’s not the only LEGO Elves set that made its grand debut online in the last few days. Among the half a billion (that’s slight hyperbole) sets that LEGO is bringing out in 2015, there’s a few new and returning themes mixed in. There’s a lot of doom and gloom swirling about in LEGO Legends of Chima fandom, as rumors have begun that 2015 could be the last year for the quasi-beloved LEGO Chima theme. Chima has been one of my surprise favorite LEGO themes since its introduction, so I would be very heartbroken to see it go if the rumors are true. That said, if we are approaching the end of LEGO Legends of Chima, you wouldn’t know it by the sheer number of new sets coming in January 2015–and another one has just been revealed: it’s the LEGO Chima Vultrix’s Sky Scavenger 70228!
