This is going to shock a lot of people, but I was not a hardcore Star Wars geek as a kid. Oh, sure, growing up I could name every Ewok and Droid that Kenner made vintage figures of, but when it came to other people and vehicles in the Star Wars universe, I was a casual fan at best. The relevance of this is that I’ve never, in my entire life, owned even one toy of a Star Wars Imperial Shuttle. Crazy, right? But that 31-year streak is at an end!

LEGO Exo-Suit 21109 LEGO Ideas LIMITED Set Up for Order!

LEGO announced ages ago that the fan-created LEGO Exo-Suit would be coming to the LEGO Ideas set range (though back then, we still old-timers still called it “LEGO CUUSOO”). The rumored release date for the set was August 2014, but once the calendar flipped over to July 2014 without a peep from LEGO, I got a little worried that the project’s release was going to be delayed. Thankfully, it turns out that that’s not the case at all–to celebrate the 4th of July, LEGO officially unveiled their LEGO Exo-Suit 21109 set… in spectacular, animated video form!

UPDATE 8/1/2014: The LEGO Exo-Suit set is now up for order and selling out FAST! There’s only one production run for this set, so make sure to order it ASAP if you want one. Like the LEGO Mars Curiosity Rover, this set will sell out fast!

LEGO Minifigures Series 12 Fully Revealed Photos!

I’ve long maintained that LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007 would be fully revealed during San Diego Comic-Con 2014. But while my thought was that LEGO themselves would premiere the LEGO 71007 Minifigures Series 12 at SDCC 2014 themselves, that’s not quite the case. Actually, LEGO didn’t show off the series at the event at all. Instead, mega-retailer Argos leaked images of the set onto the web. Luckily, this isn’t math class, so while my reasoning was wrong, the results are all that matter–and LEGO Minifigures Series 12 looks outstanding!

SDCC 2014 LEGO Batman Classic Batmobile & Minifigures Revealed!

I was genuinely starting to wonder if LEGO was just not going to show off their final few San Diego Comic Con 2014 exclusive LEGO sets and minifigures before the SDCC 2014 Preview Night tomorrow, but with one day to go, LEGO has successfully managed to debut all of their con exclusives (though they certainly cut it a little close)! The final two show exclusives included a free promo minifigure and another limited-edition $39.99 set, and both are Batman-themed! It’s the SDCC 2014 Exclusive LEGO Batman Classic Batmobile and LEGO Batman of Zur-En-Arrh minifigure!

Occasionally, LEGO is really good at keeping a secret (as was the case with the LEGO Star Wars MTT that turned up shockingly last week). But most of the time–most of the time–LEGO just can’t keep a secret. Rumors have been swirling about through winter and into spring regarding a new 2014 LEGO MINI Cooper set, so when yet another mysterious VIP Early Access set was announced via the LEGO Store July 2014 calendar, it didn’t take a precognitive to foretell what that set might be. But as it turns out, we didn’t have to guess for long anyway–the LEGO MINI Cooper 10242 set has now been fully revealed!

I’ve been obsessively hitting up at least one of my nearby LEGO Stores almost every day this month, and thankfully for my sanity, persistence has finally paid off! After being released overseas earlier this summer, the entire wave of LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets has now arrived in United States stores! This wave includes some vehicles that are all-new to the LEGO Star Wars universe, as well as some long-awaited remakes of popular sets like the LEGO Mos Eisley Cantina and the new LEGO Imperial Star Destroyer!

Given the amount of love and coverage I give to the LEGO Legends of Chima toys, you might assume that I’m an avid follower of the LEGO Chima TV series and have watched every episode over and over. That is not the case. In fact, up until this month, I’d seen exactly zero episodes of the LEGO Legends of Chima cartoon. Nothing against the show–I just don’t watch a lot of TV. But Warner Bros. was kind enough to send me a review copy of the LEGO Legends of Chima Season 1 Part 2 DVD set, so I spent four hour this weekend on a LEGO Chima cartoon bender. I really want to make a “Christmas in July” joke, but that’s so overplayed that I’m going to have to content myself with just referencing the phrase. But as trite as the term “Christmas in July” has become, there’s really no way around mentioning it when discussing one of my favorite days of the year: Hallmark Ornament Premiere Day! Hallmark Ornament Premiere comes but twice a year (no, really–there’s one in October, too), and on this magical day Hallmark stores throughout the country begin selling the year’s new ornaments. And this year, we’re lucky enough to get another LEGO ornaments: it’s the 2014 Hallmark LEGO Star Wars Boba Fett ornament!

While I’m on the mailing list for the LEGO Club Magazine that comes out bimonthly, I have to guiltily admit that I oftentimes don’t exactly read it cover to cover. While I’m a voracious reader and I get totally jazzed about the photos and ads for upcoming sets, most of the magazines tend to consist of word finds and comic strips that I’m less than crazy about. But this month… this month is different! I had heard clear photos of another trio of LEGO Minifigures Series 12 71007 figures debuted this month–and my copy of the LEGO Magazine finally arrived today with glimpses of the Piggy Guy, Prospector and Spooky Girl minifigures!
