For a decade Marvel fans have had to glare jealously as other franchises like Batman, Star Wars and Indiana Jones got video games. But all of that built-up bitterness came to a screeching halt today, as the long-awaited and hotly-anticipated LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game was released today for most video game consoles! Two weeks ago we got our first glance at a mysterious, unknown LEGO minifigure that looked quite a bit like a LEGO Store Employee. We weren’t sure exactly what the minifigure was or how LEGO collectors could obtain the figure, and consequently the first few samples of the LEGO Shop figure that showed up on ebay were selling for crazy prices like $50 each! But Bricks And Bloks reader Mark wrote in to us today to share some gorgeous photos of his 5001622 LEGO Shop Employee minifigure, and to let us know how all of us can get this rare promotional minifigure for our very own as well!

It’s been a pretty slow week for LEGO news, but The Brick Owl has turned up a pretty unexpected development in the form of a new, upcoming LEGO polybag promo minifigure. Now, that’s not anything extraordinary in its own right, as we get exclusive LEGO promo minifigures many times per year. The LEGO Holiday Set promos have become one of the most anticipated holiday traditions for LEGO collectors, and this year LEGO will once again be bringing us good tidings and cheer with a new pair of LEGO 2013 Holiday Sets to be given out free with purchases from the LEGO Store!

If you’re like me, you simply can’t afford to keep up with all of the cool and amazing sets that LEGO releases every year. Try as I might (and believe me–I try), I just can’t afford to buy anywhere close to every LEGO set that I really want. One such set is the LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 10220, which has just never quite managed to make it to the top of my “to-buy” list, despite its phenomenal design.

Following all of the drama, controversy and disappointment that coincided with the SDCC 2013 LEGO exclusive sets and minifigures, it’s nice to get some pure, unadulterated good news for a change! And that’s just what we’ve got today–some good old fashioned exciting, happy news! Though many collectors thought that a particular minifigure given out for free in June of this year at LEGOLand California was going to become an impossible to find grail, that’s not going to be the case at all! Man, kids get everything. If you’re lucky enough to be ages 6-14, there’s a free LEGO Monthly Mini Model Build event that happens on the first Tuesday of every month at 5PM. As I’m, uh, a few years past 14, I tragically don’t get to participate in these LEGO Store events. Even so, I must be a total glutton for punishment, because I like to stay informed and see what I’m missing out on. As a LEGO collecting community, we have been really spoiled throughout 2013 by the multitude of awesome free LEGO giveaways and LEGO polybag promos that have been given out as part of promotions at the LEGO Stores and sometimes Toys R Us. So it was with intense anticipation that I perused the August 2013 LEGO Store calendar to see what we’d be getting free in August! And, well… it’s a bit of a letdown. I have been a man on a mission this whole week, and my quest has been a simple one: to find, acquire, scan and post the all-new August 2013 LEGO Store calendar! I’ve been each of the four LEGO Stores in my area multiple times over the course of this week, but finally my epic journey is at an end.
