Ordinarily we have to wait until the final day of a month for LEGO to post the newest LEGO Store Calendar, but in this case, the final day of the month is also the final day of 2014! Everyone wants to have a fun and carefree final day of the year, and LEGO is apparently no exception! And so, one extra day early, the February 2015 LEGO Store calendar has now been posted!
There’s not a whole lot of surprises to sink our teeth into, but we do get confirmation of the rumored LEGO Driller promo–which turns out to be the free LEGO City Demolition Driller 30312 set!

Well, now–! I’m not surprised to see another 2015 LEGO Exclusive set uncovered (what with the crazy number of leaks in the last month), but I am definitely surprised by the content of this set.
Hot on the heels of the popular LEGO Superboy minifigure cube that was released as a Target exclusive this winter, we’ll be getting another LEGO Minifigures Set of four minifigures in cube packaging in 2015–this time with… a LEGO Lightning Lad minifigure!?

Well, any skepticism that I had regarding that leaked list of LEGO Store 2015 exclusives that appeared online last week is definitely fading. One of the items on that list was the supposed LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2015 Admiral Yularen minifigure.
I didn’t really doubt a LEGO Admiral Yularen would be the promo–there was just no proof. But, well… now there is! The May the 4th 2015 LEGO Star Wars Admiral Yularen minifigure promo has now been revealed!

There’s a lot of doom and gloom swirling about in LEGO Legends of Chima fandom, as rumors have begun that 2015 could be the last year for the quasi-beloved LEGO Chima theme. Chima has been one of my surprise favorite LEGO themes since its introduction, so I would be very heartbroken to see it go if the rumors are true. That said, if we are approaching the end of LEGO Legends of Chima, you wouldn’t know it by the sheer number of new sets coming in January 2015–and another one has just been revealed: it’s the LEGO Chima Vultrix’s Sky Scavenger 70228!

I mentioned a couple days ago that the LEGO marketplace is currently engaged in a vicious struggle, with every big retailer vying for our LEGO dollars. This battle has led to ubiquitous free promo LEGO sets available over the past month or so, including the long-awaited LEGO Rocket Raccoon polybag that was free at Toys R Us at the end of November. But Toys R Us isn’t done with us (and our dollars) yet! Though it arrived internationally a couple months ago, Toys R Us USA had one more promo up their sleeve that they were holding onto: the 5002124 LEGO Ninjago Dareth vs. Nindroid polybag is now available as a free promo in the United States!

I mentioned last week that making several trips to Target is part of my daily routine since a new Target store opened up a 90 second drive from my apartment. Today was one of those days that a short drive to reach the store paid off, as I was careless on my first trip in and only took a cursory walk past the aisle. The joke was on me, as Target had an unexpected promo that I had to go back for (after it was sold out)–the Target Exclusive LEGO Minifigures set, containing a LEGO Superboy minifigure and three other figures! It’s already selling online for $40-$50, so if you want this set free, now is the time to hit Target!

The amount of Rocket Raccoon toys and collectibles available at retail this year is surreal to me. As a lifelong Rocket Raccoon fanboy, I never thought the day would come that any piece of Rocket Raccoon merch would show up in a retail store–much less dozens of Rocket Raccoon figures. But thanks to the success of Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon is now a star for eternity. And as such, he gets an honor previously reserved only for headliner Marvel characters like Thor and Iron Man–his own LEGO minifigure polybag! Is the LEGO Rocket Raccoon polybag worth your five bucks (or ten bucks if you’re buying Rocket online)?

The second most frequently-asked question I’ve gotten from LEGO fans this fall (after “When will the LEGO Frozen set be available?”) is “Will the LEGO Rocket Raccoon minifigure exclusive be available in the United States?” My answer has always been a reassuring “Hang tight; he’ll be here soon.”
