If you’re like me, you simply can’t afford to keep up with all of the cool and amazing sets that LEGO releases every year. Try as I might (and believe me–I try), I just can’t afford to buy anywhere close to every LEGO set that I really want. One such set is the LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van 10220, which has just never quite managed to make it to the top of my “to-buy” list, despite its phenomenal design.

Though LEGO debuted the fan-demanded LEGO Back to the Future Delorean set at San Diego Comic Con 2013 in mid-July, supplies at the convention were limited and prices for the set quickly exploded on the aftermarket. Move over Mr. Gold! There’s a new king of the LEGO Minifigures mountain, and it’s a real shocker! Given away for free to some lucky attendees at San Diego Comic Con 2013 last week was an ultra-limited LEGO The Hobbit Azog Minifigure. The minifigure was given away randomly, and couldn’t even be won by raffle like the LEGO Super Heroes could. The result? The most expensive LEGO Minifigure yet–the LEGO Azog Minifigure is now selling for $1500+ on ebay! But while Agog may be the new king, LEGO Green Arrow and friends can’t exactly be considered “cheap” either…

LEGO Back to the Future Released at SDCC: Don’t Pay Scalper Prices!

Along with the exclusive LEGO Super Heroes minifigures and the LEGO The Hobbit/LEGO Star Wars San Diego Comic Con 2013 exclusive sets, there was another very high-profile item being sold at the LEGO Booth in San Diego this week.

For the first time ever, the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine was put up for sale, with collectors and resellers scrambling to buy up all the LEGO Deloreans. In fact, the LEGO BTTF set is now selling for a ridiculous, inflated $100+ on ebay. I am here to beg you, to plead with you: Please, do not waste your money paying scalpers for the LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine set right now!

The four 2013 SDCC Exclusives LEGO Minifigures are all from the LEGO Superheroes theme, and will include a Green Arrow minifigure, a Black Suit Superman minifigure, an Amazing Spider-Man minifigure and a Spider-Woman minifigure!

August 2013 LEGO Monthly Mini Model Build Flamingo & BBQ Grill!

Man, kids get everything. If you’re lucky enough to be ages 6-14, there’s a free LEGO Monthly Mini Model Build event that happens on the first Tuesday of every month at 5PM. As I’m, uh, a few years past 14, I tragically don’t get to participate in these LEGO Store events. Even so, I must be a total glutton for punishment, because I like to stay informed and see what I’m missing out on. I stopped by my local LEGO Store over the weekend and discovered not one, but two, upcoming Mini Model Builds: the August 2013 LEGO Flamingo and a special summer LEGO Barbecue Grill set…

LEGO Tower of Orthanc 10237 Set Display Photos at the LEGO Store!

2013 is a year of monstrously large LEGO sets (with monstrously large prices to match), and among the largest of them all is the just-released LEGO Lord of the Rings Tower of Orthanc 10237. Though I’ll be picking this set up a bit later this year (I need to space out my aforementioned monstrously large LEGO set purchases), I was bursting with curiosity as to exactly how good the LEGO Orthanc set looked in person. So this week I decided to head to one of my local LEGO Stores to see the LEGO 10237 Tower of Orthanc in person, and I decided to take some photos so everyone else could bask in its glory as well…
