A lot of people give LEGO Legends of Chima a hard time, but I like the animal tribes concept plenty. Even so, I was getting bored after seeing crocodile-themed and wolf-themed sets all year. Luckily, LEGO is giving the LEGO Legends of Chima 2014 sets an infusion of new blood and new style with new tribes next year! And seeing the first Chima Scorpion Tribe set, the 2014 LEGO Chima Scorm’s Scorpion Stinger 70132, has remedied any malaise toward Chima that I was feeling!

At the end of last week we got our first photo preview of one of the new LEGO Chima 2014 minifigures in the form of Blista the Bat Tribe minifigure, and now it looks like that was just the first in a string of 2014 LEGO Legends of Chima images!
The second of the new LEGO Chima Animal Tribes to be officially revealed is the Rhino Tribe, beginning with the Rogon the Rhino minifigure from this winter’s LEGO Legends of Chima Rogon’s Rock Flinger 70131 set!

LEGO Legends of Chima fans have had to sit and wait patiently while LEGO 2014 news and photos leaked out for every other branch of LEGO collectors. From 2014 LEGO Star Wars to LEGO Super Heroes 2014 and even next year’s LEGO Simpsons sets, there’s been nada new for LEGO Chima fans. But no longer! I heard rumblings that the last of the new LEGO summer/fall 2013 LEGO sets had been sighted at isolated Toys R Us stores, so I roused my migraine-ridden self out of bed and drove half an hour to not the closest Toys R Us to my location, but to the Toys R Us store near me that I have the most luck finding new and exciting items at. And my pain and patience were rewarded, as my gaze was soon met with what I’ve been waiting to see for half a year: shelves freshly stocked with all of the newest LEGO sets for the final wave of 2013, including the LEGO Legends of Chima summer sets and Gorilla Tribe minifiigures!

I have been a man on a mission this whole week, and my quest has been a simple one: to find, acquire, scan and post the all-new August 2013 LEGO Store calendar! I’ve been each of the four LEGO Stores in my area multiple times over the course of this week, but finally my epic journey is at an end.

Confession time: I have never in my life bought, built or even played with a LEGO Bionicle toy. It’s not that I have anything against those types of LEGO sets–I’ve just never been real interested in LEGO sets that aren’t your typical brick-built fare, so I’ve never cared enough to pay attention to one. Until now. My wife’s eyes lit up when she saw the new LEGO Legends of Chima Buildable Figure sets in person last night, and she insisted on coming home with LEGO Chima CHI Razar 70205 and building it right away. And you know what? It’s really not that bad. And by “not that bad”, I mean that I’m totally astounded that the LEGO CHI Razar figure is such a super-fun toy…

When I went out to the store tonight hunting for newly-released 2013 LEGO Summer sets, I honestly wasn’t looking for anything from the LEGO Legends of Chima line. To be totally honest, I didn’t think that there were even any LEGO Chima summer 2013 sets out yet. I didn’t even check the LEGO Chima section at the store because I was so convinced there was nothing there worth checking out. Luckily, something brand-spanking-new caught my wife’s eye: the LEGO Chima CHI Buildable Figure sets!

But if there’s one thing that seems to be able to cross the theme boundaries and get buyers to buy sets from themes they usually wouldn’t it’s LEGO polybag sets! Low-priced and always with something exclusive, LEGO polybag sets are much-loved by LEGO fans the world over. LEGO Legends of Chima has only been out for a little over two months now, but LEGO just keeps chugging away with retirements and new releases for the theme! A couple weeks ago they announced the first four sets that would be discontinued from the theme, and now they’ve shipped out another Chima polybag set! This time it’s the LEGO Chima Razcal’s Double-Crosser 30254 polybag. If you don’t already have a Razcal minifigure, this polybag is a superb deal. If you do already have a Razcal, well… not so much…
