I’ve been talking about the LEGO Legends of Chima theme since months before the first sets were released, so it feels weird knowing this is the last time I’ll ever talk about an upcoming Chima set again (barring some unforeseen miracle resurrection for theme). I previously discussed the other two summer Chima sets that I saw at the New York Toy Fair 2015, and now it’s time to move on to the last of the trio (and Chima itself): the LEGO Chima Mammoth’s Frozen Stronghold 70226 set!

Free LEGO Chima Ice Bear Mech Promo Set Released!

Way back in December 2014 (which feels like a lot longer than three months ago), some collectors started finding a new LEGO Ice Bear Mech polybag set at Target stores. I searched hard and long for that set for months, but it never got wide distribution–and I was seriously beginning to doubt that it ever would.

But rejoice, fellow Ice Bear Mech hunters–it’s back! The LEGO Iceklaw’s Mech 30256 set is free at Toys R Us stores this week!

There’s a lot of doom and gloom swirling about in LEGO Legends of Chima fandom, as rumors have begun that 2015 could be the last year for the quasi-beloved LEGO Chima theme. Chima has been one of my surprise favorite LEGO themes since its introduction, so I would be very heartbroken to see it go if the rumors are true. That said, if we are approaching the end of LEGO Legends of Chima, you wouldn’t know it by the sheer number of new sets coming in January 2015–and another one has just been revealed: it’s the LEGO Chima Vultrix’s Sky Scavenger 70228!

I mentioned last week that making several trips to Target is part of my daily routine since a new Target store opened up a 90 second drive from my apartment. Today was one of those days that a short drive to reach the store paid off, as I was careless on my first trip in and only took a cursory walk past the aisle. The joke was on me, as Target had an unexpected promo that I had to go back for (after it was sold out)–the Target Exclusive LEGO Minifigures set, containing a LEGO Superboy minifigure and three other figures! It’s already selling online for $40-$50, so if you want this set free, now is the time to hit Target!

One of the big mysteries about the LEGO Legends of Chima 2014 sets lineup has been when and where (and if) the LEGO Chima Frax’ Phoenix Flyer 30264 set would be available in the United States. While the set was released internationally in the summer, US LEGO fans have been one Phoenix Tribe minifigure short for months. But finally, Christmas has come–literally! The 30264 LEGO Frax’ Phoenix Flyer polybag has now been released in the stocking stuffer section!

The leaked list of LEGO Chima 2015 sets posted last month was right on the money–there’s no sets at all coming that we didn’t know about. One of my personal favorite LEGO themes will be entering its third year in 2015, and LEGO has some great things planned to celebrate the event! Though the LEGO Legends of Chima theme met with a lot of harsh opposition to begin with (especially from those who felt like it was going to replace LEGO Ninjago), LEGO Chima has persevered. And LEGO has some big things planned for the third year of LEGO Legends of Chima, as the LEGO Chima 2015 sets will include the first-ever Tiger Tribe vehicle, long-demanded Tribe Minifigure Packs and the much-anticipated debut of Chima Bear Tribe Minifigures!

Given the amount of love and coverage I give to the LEGO Legends of Chima toys, you might assume that I’m an avid follower of the LEGO Chima TV series and have watched every episode over and over. That is not the case. In fact, up until this month, I’d seen exactly zero episodes of the LEGO Legends of Chima cartoon. Nothing against the show–I just don’t watch a lot of TV. But Warner Bros. was kind enough to send me a review copy of the LEGO Legends of Chima Season 1 Part 2 DVD set, so I spent four hour this weekend on a LEGO Chima cartoon bender.
