I’ve had some requests recently for more coverage of Kre-O news and releases here on Bricks and Bloks (and here I thought I was the only one buying Kre-O toys!), and serendipitously enough, the first-ever Kre-O book release has just now been officially confirmed and unveiled. It must be fate!

Coming in 2014, the Transformers Kre-O Character Encylopedia book with exclusive Transformers Kre-O Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) figure is now up for order!

When Hasbro first started bringing out their Kre-O line of building toys two years ago, I seriously thought the line was a third-rate, doomed LEGO wannabe. Over the years I’ve warmed toward the Kre-O line as whole, mostly because of the ultra-fun Kre-O Transformers and GI Joe figure blind bags that Hasbro has been releasing. So when I heard Hasbro had picked up the Star Trek: Into Darkness movie license and would be producing movie Star Trek Kre-O blind bags, I was pretty psyched. Kids love ninjas. Hasbro loves ninjas. GI Joe fans… sort of love ninjas. If there’s one thing that the GI Joe figure line has had more than its share of for the past decade-plus, it’s ninjas. Yeah, everybody loves a good ninja–but not everybody loves dozens and dozens of ninjas.
