One theme that had all of its new upcoming 2015 sets debuted at the New York Toy Fair 2015 that I haven’t had a chance to talk about yet at all is one of my favorite niche themes: the Summer 2015 LEGO Mixels sets! We’ll have two more series of Mixels before the end of the year, with the next coming in June 2015! And lest you be worried about the new sets just being rehashes of past Mixel ideas, have no fear: LEGO Mixels Series 5 will include two totally-new Mixels tribes!
That said, I am very excited about the Series 5 LEGO Mixels toys that will be heading our way in just over two months, as the series will consist of two all-new tribes and one returning favorite!
First up, we’ll see the brand new LEGO Mixels Lixsters tribe, with its yellow and red color scheme. At a glance, I thought these beautiful Mixel figures might have some sort of Aztect theme. But it as it turns out, they’re actually tongue-themed! Uh, ew? I’d say that a booger theme would be next, except that we already have that one…
The three members of the Lixsters Mixels tribe are Spugg, Turg and Tungster 41544. I think this is definitely an oddball tribe, but the winged orange-and-yellow Tungster Mixels figure is definitely a favorite of mine and an instant buy.
Next, we have another new tribe: the LEGO Mixels Clinkers tribe! This is a very unique and interesting tribe, as it’s Steampunk themed!
With their gear-like design and techno gold and brown color scheme, I’m really digging the Clinkers Mixels tribe. The three figures in this group will be Gox, Jinky and Kamzo, although which name belongs to which figure isn’t currently known.
Finally, we’ve got the one 2014 Mixels tribe back for another set of new members: the blue Frosticons! I’m a total mark for any kind of arctic-themed or polar LEGO toys, so this is my personal favorite group of Mixels.
The LEGO Mixels Series 5 Frosticons will be Krug, Chillbo and Snoof (not the most inspired names, but whatever). I’m actually quite disappointed in this group, as none of the figures stand out as being particularly cool or cute this time. Oh well–I guess you can’t win them all!
LEGO Mixels Series 5 is scheduled to be officially released in stores in June 2015 (which means the sets should start to appear in limited numbers in stores no earlier than May 2015).
Is the fifth series of LEGO Mixels figures to your liking, monster lovers? Or do you feel that now that we’re down to creating tribes themed after tongues, the Mixels theme has run its course?
I kinda like that blue one on tha far left:P
love the steampunk mixles great!
