It was over a week ago that I found the bulk of the LEGO City Summer 2015 sets in stores for the first time (and you can check out my previously-published reviews of the new Utility Shuttle and Space Starter Set if you’re interested). I searched high and low, but there was still one set eluding me–until today! The single largest and most expensive non-exclusive 2015 set has arrived: the LEGO City Square 60097!
I don’t know if it’s shipping in lesser quantities than the other summer LEGO City sets or what, but the 60097 City Square set has been much harder to track down at retail than any of its theme-mates. I’d seen every one of the other summer City sets in at least a half-dozen stores by this past weekend, but 60097 was nowhere to be found.
But today, I managed to spot the set at both the official LEGO Store and a nearby Toys R Us store, so there’s no question that the set is now available (at least, in some places)!
I do have my monetary limits (as unbelievable as that may seem), so I had to pass on picking up the City Square #60097 set myself for the moment. I’ll be sure to pick it up for review later in the year, though. And for those of you who have picked this mega-set up already–feel free to leave a comment and post your impressions below! I’m really dying to hear what you all think of this year’s most expensive mass-released set!
The 60097 LEGO City City Square set is now appearing in some Toys R Us stores and branded LEGO Stores, but it has yet to appear on Shop at Home or in mass retail stores like Walmart and Target. The official release date for City Square (and the rest of the City Summer 2015 sets) is June 1st, so look for this set to start hitting everywhere next week just in time to kick off June 2015!
Now that it’s making itself known in stores, will you be adding the high-profile and much-hyped 60097 City Square set to your collection, brick fans? Or is the high price of this gorgeous set scaring you away from it?
There is an advertisement for LEGO Worlds in the instruction manual. Such a title has not been revealed to the public, and the URL included (lego.com/worlds) does not work.
I am so excited! I order from shop.lego.com only. The hours are counting down until June 1!!!
