Seeing as how September 4th is going to be Star Wars Force Friday–perhaps the biggest day for Star Wars collectible reveals ever–I half-expected the September 2015 LEGO Store Calendar to be totally Star Wars themed. But nope! It’s an eclectic calendar with an emphasis on Ninjago Airjitzu, a free poster for a much-maligned prequel film, and a free promo set featuring everyone’s favorite vehicle to go cruising on: a tractor!
We know that the sets are due for release on September 4th (my birthday–woo!!), but it’s still up in the air when (or if) we’ll get to see new sets before their release date. That said, the LEGO Store September Calendar isn’t totally Star Wars-free! From September 21st to 27th, fans can get the LEGO Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones poster free with any Star Wars purchase. And with lots of new sets out that month, it shouldn’t be too hard to find a new set to pick up to earn the poster!
But for those who prefer their free promo items to be made of plastic and not paper, there’s an all-new polybag set being given out from September 1st to 20th: the LEGO Creator Tractor 30284 set!
The sum totality of what I know about tractors is that they get used on farms, but this red tractor looks cute enough that I won’t mind building it. It’s available free with any $50 purchase during the first three weeks of September (and very likely to run out early due to the new Star Wars sets early in the month).
We’ve known since last year that the new set for 2015 will be the LEGO Winter Toy Shop 10249, but we still haven’t seen even one preview image of the set. Just how different will it be from its predecessor from a few years back? We’ll have to wait a tad longer to find out!
The back of the calendar is even duller than usual, with the only partially-interesting news being the September 2015 Mini Monthly Model Build Diver set. The LEGO Diver Model looks okay, but I feel like it’s one of the weaker entries in a year that’s been filled with exceptional ones. As usual, the event will only be open to children who pre-register, so us old fogies need not apply.
What do you think of the LEGO Stores September 2015 Calendar, brick fans? Will you be heading to the LEGO Store for a free promo (or a pricey Winter Village Toy Shop!) this September, or are you holding out for new sets being released toward the end of the year?
I like the tractor. I wish they’d come out with some Creator sets that have a farm theme.
I really doubt the tractor polybag is a new set I have like 5 at home which I bought in a local “food” store!! :))) 30284
