As we count down the few remaining days until San Diego Comic-Con 2014, the news is coming in fast and furious at exactly what the hotly-demanded LEGO SDCC 2014 exclusives are going to be! Earlier I discussed the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket’s Warbird set and the LEGO Marvel The Collector minifigure that will be given out at the show, and now it’s time to discuss two more of the LEGO promo giveaway figures for the 2014 SDCC. They’re variants of characters you might have already, but you may want them anyway–it’s the SDCC 2014 Exclusive LEGO Unikitty and Bard Minifigures!
While LEGO collectors definitely seem to favor LEGO releasing variants of preexisting characters as exclusives instead of all-new characters, this latest pair of LEGO Comic Con International 2014 exclusives may come as a punch to the gut of many collectors anyway.
In addition, a variant LEGO Bard the Bowman minifigure based off of the third The Hobbit movie will also be available at the show as a lottery-style giveaway. While Bard isn’t even in the same universe of popularity as Unikitty, LEGO The Hobbit minifigures will be after this variant nonetheless.
The LEGO Unikitty Minifigure with Reversible Head and variant Bard the Bowman minifigures will be available exclusively as random giveaways at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con next week in California. If you’re not attending the show, you can try to order these exclusive Unikitty and Bard minifigures off the secondary market, but they are going to be expensive. I’d be shocked if Unikitty ends up selling for a penny under $300 online, although the SDCC LEGO Bard minifigure variant may sell for significantly less (we’ll see).
I won’t lie, kinda angry about this. I have all the Unikitty’s up to this point. 🙁
It wouldn’t be an issue if Lego would make a decent number of these. Most SDCC toys there is absolutely no shortage of on eBay during and after the con, and the price mark-up is based on the effort of the seller to acquire it rather than scarcity.
I hate all SDCC Exclusives! oh im sorry lego was ur main audience children? well guess how children can actually get these! let’s face it, mostly adults go there.
The madness on ebay has started: range $175-$500. 🙁
Yeah ill probably never own a SDCC lego in my life, but who knows?
