Amidst all of the major, high-profile LEGO sets being released on August 1st 2013 (such as the Summer/Fall 2013 LEGO Star Wars and Chima sets, the LEGO Back to the Future Delorean Time Machine, the LEGO Architecture Studio, etc.), there was one other prominent set released that may have slipped through the cracks now and out of a lot of collectors’ hands forever. Move over Mr. Gold! There’s a new king of the LEGO Minifigures mountain, and it’s a real shocker! Given away for free to some lucky attendees at San Diego Comic Con 2013 last week was an ultra-limited LEGO The Hobbit Azog Minifigure. The minifigure was given away randomly, and couldn’t even be won by raffle like the LEGO Super Heroes could. The result? The most expensive LEGO Minifigure yet–the LEGO Azog Minifigure is now selling for $1500+ on ebay! Confession time: I didn’t plan on buying the new Summer 2013 LEGO Star Wars Corporate Alliance Tank Droid 75015. I ragged on this set when it was unveiled at the 2013 Toy Fair, and I had no intention of buying it–right up until it was the set priced closest to the LEGO Mandalorian Speeder I was buying as part of a BOGO sale. I’m lucky I did pick the new 75015 LEGO Star Wars Tank Droid up on a whim, though–because I absolutely love it!
