Last week’s New York Toy Fair 2014 gave us our first chance to see all of the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets, and of that huge assortment of sets, one stood larger (and more expensive) than all of the rest: the 2014 LEGO Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer 75055! This will be the 8th time LEGO releases a set bearing the name of “Star Destroyer”, but does this set have what it takes to set itself apart as superior to its predecessors?

If there’s one LEGO set from The LEGO Movie that I was dying to buy after seeing the movie in theaters (several times, in fact), it was Benny’s Spaceship. But that set isn’t available to purchase yet. If there’s another set that I desperately wanted to own, it was Emmet’s awesome mech robot from the climax of the movie. Unfortunately, that set isn’t available yet either. However, at the American International Toy Fair in New York City this week, LEGO officially announced and revealed The LEGO Movie Emmet’s Construct-o-Mech 70814 for Summer 2014!

When I walked out of seeing The LEGO Movie for the very first time two weeks ago, I instantly wanted to head to my local LEGO Store and buy Benny’s Spaceship to take home and build–no matter what it cost! There was only one problem–the LEGO Movie Benny’s Spaceship set hadn’t been released (or even officially announced) at the time. Christmas may be ten months away, but it’s never too early to get ready for the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar! Earlier this week, the first photo of a Summer 2014 LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy set leaked out from the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014. LEGO must have figured that the cat (or the raccoon, in this case) was well and truly out of the bag, as in advance of this weekend’s humongous New York Toy Fair 2014 event, LEGO has already allowed hi-res images to be posted of the Guardians of the Galaxy LEGO Marvel The Milano Ship Rescue 76021 set! It’s the largest and most expensive of the LEGO Guardians of the Galaxy sets, and now we can see it before it’s fully revealed to the public at the 2014 New York Toy Fair!

Anyone who reads regularly knows that I am not exactly the biggest proponent of the new LEGO Mixels theme debuting this winter. That said, when I walked into my local LEGO Store today and saw all of the LEGO Mixels Series 1 figures in-stock, I just knew I had to buy one and test out Mixels for myself.

I had the amazing experience of going to see The LEGO Movie in 3-D on opening day this weekend, and it was a phenomenal experience. The LEGO Movie blew away all my expectations with its creativity, humor and heart.
