LEGO Elves got off to a good start this year, but I was wondering what compelling twist TLG could put on the theme in order to keep the momentum going strong in 2016.
Well, the simple answer can be summarized in one word: Dragons! The LEGO Elves 2016 sets definitely won’t just feel like slightly more colorful Friends set with 2016’s heavy emphasis on brick-built Dragons!

During this past week, TLG uploaded the entire North America Winter 2016 LEGO Catalog, giving us our first official looks at dozens and dozens of sets that had previously only been heard about from leaks and rumors. But there was one incoming theme that had been officially confirmed that was notable by its absence from the American catalog… but not the Russian catalog! This is definitely not going to be a theme for everyone, but the 2016 LEGO Angry Birds sets have now been revealed!

A couple weeks back I was lamenting the absence of prequel sets in the Winter 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets wave, with only Obi-Wan’s Jedi Interceptor being a mass release item. Happy Star Wars Day! It seems a bit ironic, but as things turn out, I’ve already talked about all of the LEGO Star Wars Winter 2016 sets, so there’s nothing Star Wars-related for me to discuss on this momentous day. Alas! But there’s plenty to discuss on the superhero-ing front, including the official reveals of the last Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice set! It’s already been found in stores by some lucky builders, and now TLG has officially announced the 2016 LEGO Clash of the Heroes 76044 set!

Photos leaked out months and months ago revealing a previously-unannounced LEGO Cosmic Boy minifigure, representing one of the three founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes. Ever since the Lightning Lad minifigure shipped with the Target exclusive cube a few weeks back, we wondered when the first of his fellow Legionnaires would join him. And now we know: the LEGO DC Justice League Cosmic Clash DVD with Cosmic Boy minifigure is now up for order!

We’re just three weeks out from the grand launch of the vast majority of LEGO 2016 sets, but there’s at least one theme that I haven’t touched upon at all yet: Ninjago! As we inch ever closer to the upcoming Ninjago movie hitting theaters, the series continues in full force next year. And the Ninjago theme for the first half of 2016 is a continuation of what we saw at San Diego Comic Con 2015–Sky Pirates! And of this new wave of Sky Pirates set, there’s one that caught my attention more than any other: Jay’s Elemental Dragon 70602!

LEGO has been releasing sets and Minifigures for Disney properties such as Star Wars, Marvel and Frozen for years now, so it didn’t surprise me much at all when I heard that a LEGO Disney Minifigures Series 71012 was coming in spring 2016. It’s no secret that Disney and Lucasfilm want people–and merchandisers–to forget about the Star Wars prequels. That’s why we saw less prequels toys released in 2015 than ever before. And in winter 2016, there will be just one LEGO Star Wars prequels set released. Yesterday I talked about one of the major LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens winter 2016 sets that that’s due out in stores in the next 1-2 months, the Battle on Takodana set with Unmasked Kylo Ren minifigure.
