I make it a point to see every movie that comes out that has its own LEGO sets (even “The Lone Ranger” *shudder*), so it won’t shock anybody that I went out New Year’s Eve to see The Hobbit The Battle of Five Armies. The movie was, uh… not my favorite Peter Jackson film, but I did like at least a few of the characters.
And one of them just may be the final LEGO Lord of the Rings figure ever produced–the exclusive LEGO Bain minifigure has now been revealed!

Most people my age stay up partying for hours past midnight on New Year’s Eve. Me? I was in bed within five minutes of the ball dropping on TV. See, it’s important to me to be able to get up bright and early each January 1st, as it’s always quite a big day for LEGO collectors. When grainy photos of the box for the 2015 LEGO Detective’s Office 10246 Modular Building leaked out earlier this week, I did my very best to talk about the set without actually going into any level of detail about it. Why? Because I was saving myself for the beautiful, hi-res images of the LEGO 10246 Dectective’s Office that I knew were only a few days away! Thankfully, I don’t have to exercise restraint anymore–the LEGO Detective’s Office modular building has finally been fully revealed, and now I can talk about the set freely in all its glory!

While she’s traditionally not a LEGO fan, lately Ideas is striking all of the right chords with my wife! First, they came out with the awesome (and quickly sold-out) LEGO Research Institute 21110 set of female scientist minifigures, which appealed to my wife professionally (what with her being a science teacher and all). And now, the latest fan-designed set plays on my wife’s favorite recreational interest: birding! Coming in January 2015–Birds 21301, the ninth Ideas set!

I was surprised yesterday when LEGO posted the February 2015 Store Calendar a day early–but that’s not all that went up ahead of schedule!
Even though they weren’t advertised as being available until January 1st 2015, qualifying orders at the online LEGO Shop are now being packed with the promo LEGO Flower Cart, mini AT-DP and Mini Golf sets!

Ordinarily we have to wait until the final day of a month for LEGO to post the newest LEGO Store Calendar, but in this case, the final day of the month is also the final day of 2014! Everyone wants to have a fun and carefree final day of the year, and LEGO is apparently no exception! And so, one extra day early, the February 2015 LEGO Store calendar has now been posted!
There’s not a whole lot of surprises to sink our teeth into, but we do get confirmation of the rumored LEGO Driller promo–which turns out to be the free LEGO City Demolition Driller 30312 set!

Well, now–! I’m not surprised to see another 2015 LEGO Exclusive set uncovered (what with the crazy number of leaks in the last month), but I am definitely surprised by the content of this set.
Hot on the heels of the popular LEGO Superboy minifigure cube that was released as a Target exclusive this winter, we’ll be getting another LEGO Minifigures Set of four minifigures in cube packaging in 2015–this time with… a LEGO Lightning Lad minifigure!?

Well, any skepticism that I had regarding that leaked list of LEGO Store 2015 exclusives that appeared online last week is definitely fading. One of the items on that list was the supposed LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 2015 Admiral Yularen minifigure.

I’m still on vacation in sunny Orlando (in fact, I’m planning on hitting up the Downtown Disney LEGO Store later tonight), but some news has leaked out that I just had to stop and take a few minutes to talk about. We won’t see the “winter” 2015 LEGO Marvel sets (based on Avengers Age of Ultron) hit stores for several months yet, but the list of LEGO Marvel Summer 2015 Sets has now been revealed: including the first-ever LEGO Carnage and Ant-Man minifigures!

It sounds nuts, as the majority of the LEGO 2015 sets aren’t even available in stores yet, but now it is time to start discussing the LEGO Summer 2015 sets! First up is a theme for which the first wave of sets hasn’t even become easily acquirable in stores yet: LEGO Minecraft! The sales for the Winter 2015 LEGO Minecraft sets have been off the charts, with sets flying out of stock whenever they turn up both in stores and online. And in Summer 2015, LEGO Minecraft sets will be expanding with a new quartet of locales, including a LEGO Minecraft Dungeron and a LEGO Minecraft Nether Fortress!
