When I went out to the store tonight hunting for newly-released 2013 LEGO Summer sets, I honestly wasn’t looking for anything from the LEGO Legends of Chima line. To be totally honest, I didn’t think that there were even any LEGO Chima summer 2013 sets out yet. I didn’t even check the LEGO Chima section at the store because I was so convinced there was nothing there worth checking out. Luckily, something brand-spanking-new caught my wife’s eye: the large LEGO Chima CHI Buildable Figure sets!
The LEGO Legends of Chima Buildable Figure Sets weren’t exactly on my radar when they were announced. In fact, they’re the only sets that I utterly forgot about when I wrote up my coverage of the Summer 2013 LEGO Chima Sets List & News Summary. As it turns out, however, my better half (she really is) is more observant than I am and spotted these LEGO Chima CHI figures instantly in our local Toys R Us as we passed them.
There are six different sets in the first assortment, and our Toys R Us had huge quantities of all six characters hanging from the pegs. Each figure comes in a resealable plastic bag and retails for $17.99 plus tax at Toys R Us (though the sets will likely cost around $16 at other retailers).
The first wave of LEGO Chima CHI Figure sets is as follows:
- LEGO 70200 CHI Laval (Lion Tribe)
- LEGO 70201 CHI Eris (Eagle Tribe)
- LEGO 70202 CHI Gorzan (Gorilla Tribe)
- LEGO 70203 CHI Cragger (Crocodile Tribe)
- LEGO 70204 CHI Worriz (Wolf Tribe)
- LEGO 70205 CHI Razar (Raven Tribe)
Even after my wife pointed them out, I wasn’t particularly enamored with the LEGO Legends of Chima CHI large buildable figure sets. But to my utter shock (and delight), my wife declared for the first time in the 14 years I’ve known her that she wanted to buy a LEGO set.
To say I was flabbergasted would be an understatement, but we ended up coming home with the 70205 LEGO Chima CHI Razar Buildable Figure set. I’ll post a full review and photo gallergy of the LEGO Legends of Chima CHI Razar 70205 set later this week, but spoilers: my wife loves it.
If you’re looking for the LEGO Chima Buildable Figure sets and they’re not available in your local stores yet, all six sets are up for order online. The Legends of Chima CHI Large Buildable Figure sets are part of the Summer 2013 LEGO Chima lineup and should be available in most stores by June/July 2013.
