I dropped by my local LEGO Store this morning in hopes of discovering that LEGO Minifigures Series 10 had been released early, but alas, that was not to be. However, the trip wasn’t a total loss, as I saw that the May 2013 LEGO Store calendar was out! Not only does it confirm that the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th Exclusive is a Han Solo (Hoth) Minifigure, but it reveals another free minifigure promotion for next month, along with every other event schedules to go on over at the LEGO Store…
We’ve known for ages (or like half a week) about the Hoth Han Solo minifigure that’s exclusive for May the 4th, but this May LEGO Store Calendar confirms the Han Solom (Hoth) exclusive promotion and the $75 purchase threshold necessary to obtain him. There’s not a lot of LEGO Star Wars sets I’m interested in spending $75+ on right now, so LEGO must be banking on collectors buying the new Ultimate Collector’s Series X-Wing coming out next month (which they probably will).
However, there’s another free minifigure promo running next month, set for the second half of May 2013! With a scant $50 or more purchase, LEGO fans can get a free LEGO Iron Man vs. Fighting Drone polybag set! This seems to be the same LEGO Iron Man Mark VI Minifigure we’ve seen before in the LEGO Superheroes line, but hey–it’s hard to complain about free. And the Fighting Drone looks surprisingly sleek and cool, which is reason enough for me to pick up this LEGO polybag.
We also have confirmation with this calendar that 71001 LEGO Minifigures 10 will be released by next month (although I certainly hope it’s much sooner than that), as the calendar says that you can visit the LEGO store and try (keyword: “try”) to find the Mr. Gold minifigure on May 6th. Personally, I’m hoping to find the new LEGO Minifigures Series 10 blind bags a lot sooner than that (like tomorrow).
Other in-store events include the opportunity to rebuild LEGO Tony Stark’s Malibu Mansion (because, y’know–it blows up in the Iron Man 3 movie), a chance to build a LEGO Star Wars Holocron Droid (in honor of the LEGO Star Wars Yoda Chronicles beginning), and the free May 2013 LEGO Monthly Model Build (which seems to be some sort of freakish bluejay-turkey creature).
Check out the high-resolution version of the LEGO May 2013 Calendar above, and look forward to a month full of LEGO Store fun and events!
