LEGO must have decided that we were growing complacent, so they decided to throw us a curveball and switch things up a bit this month! While we can usually count on the next month’s LEGO Store Calendar being posted online one month and one day ahead of time, we get merely one month’s notice of the upcoming March 2015 LEGO Store deals, promos and events. But while waiting the extra day was agony, at least LEGO has some good stuff cooked up for us on the LEGO Store March 2015 Calendar–including two free promos, some major new sets being launched–and the return of Double VIP Points!
I’m so used to when the new calendar is posted that I think I became a bit unhinged yesterday, as I refreshed about three dozens times waiting for the March 2015 LEGO Store calendar to finally come online. It didn’t happen yesterday, but at least I can rest easy today with the knowledge of exactly what next month will bring at our favorite chain store!
The LEGO Bionicle Hero Packs looks to include some paper items, as well as a blue Skull Spider and a super cool translucent orange Toa mask! I’d pay money just for that Bionicle orange mask, so I’m definitely going to enjoy getting it for free. If you want this Hero Pack, you’d be well-served to get it early in the month–with it coming free with every purchase, I imagine LEGO Stores will run out of these early.
The other promo is in honor of the LEGO Elves sets officially being launched next month, as we’ll be receiving the first-ever LEGO Elves polybag promo set: LEGO Azari’s Magic Fire 30259! I love the computer-generated graphics that accompany this set on the calendar, but the actual set looks a little, well… bland. But, hey–I gotta at least buy one LEGO Elves set to try it out, right? So I’ll be getting this LEGO 30259 set free while it’s available from March 1-31st, 2015 (or while supplies last).
Of course, there’s one more major promotion going on in March 2015–the return of the beloved Double VIP Points! The Double LEGO Points promo is unfortunately only running in the latter half of March 2015 (from March 14-29), which is a real pain for those who don’t think they’ll be able to wait that long for the amazing LEGO S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier set that so many people (including me) are salivating over.
The front of the LEGO Stores March 2015 calendar also gives us our very first look at the upcoming 40121 LEGO Easter Painting Scene (unofficial name–that’s what I’m calling it for the moment). I don’t think we’ve ever had a LEGO Easter Egg painting set like this before, and it’s absolutely adorable. Love it!
The back of the calendar is rather dull, but it does confirm that the March 2015 Mini Monthly Model Build will take place on Tuesday, March 3rd. This time out, the mini model is an old-time, antique-looking LEGO robot! I think that this particular mini model build is one of the best in recent memory, and I’ll definitely have to grab the instructions for it online (because, as always, this event is kids-only at the LEGO Stores).
What do you think of the March 2015 LEGO Stores calendar, LEGO fans? Does this bring back some excitement after a rather mediocre February 2015 Calendar, or are you not impressed with what LEGO has lined up for us in March 2015?
Well, great marketing strategy–at least for Legos, not so much for customers. I guess they think that getting double points AND the free items will be double dipping, since the free stuff will most likely be gone by the time the double points kick in. With what I want to buy, I think I will wait until the double points kick in.
re: new Elves poly bag and all girls’ sets in general…. Please tell me I’m not the only one fed up with getting one brown arch and a leaf in almost every set that is supposed to represent a tree. I stopped buying the Friends sets after getting the treehouse and finding myself completely unsatisfied with the build. More and more I feel I’m getting ripped off when I purchase a set. I’m not sure if it’s just bad design or what…
march is also when the new city sets finally go on sale.
