Amidst all of the major, high-profile LEGO sets being released on August 1st 2013 (such as the Summer/Fall 2013 LEGO Star Wars and Chima sets, the LEGO Back to the Future Delorean Time Machine, the LEGO Architecture Studio, etc.), there was one other prominent set released that may have slipped through the cracks now and out of a lot of collectors’ hands forever. Released to stores at the start of this month and now totally sold out and selling on ebay for $400-$500, it’s the LEGO Technic 4×4 Crawler 41999 Exclusive Edition set!
So I moseyed on over to the online LEGO Shop, where I discovered that the LEGO Technic 41999 Exclusive Edition set had already sold out completely and had its listing removed entirely from LEGO Shop at Home! Uh-oh.
Upon that discovery, I did a quick sweep of the internet, fearful of what I was going to discover. To my dismay, things were exactly as I feared: the LEGO Limited Technic 4×4 Crawler 41999 Exclusive Edition is already selling for out-of-this-world, insane prices on the secondary market–LEGO 41999 sets on ebay are closing now for over $400! $400–after less than two weeks of release! That’s insane!
With a sell-out time that fast, it seems like LEGO would have to be crazy to not do another production run of these LEGO Technic 4×4 Crawler Exclusive Edition sets, but LEGO was very clear on the website to state that this set is limited to just 20,000 pieces produced.
With those 20,000 sold out now, it appears that we truly may have seen the last of these gorgeous Technic set (far too soon, if you ask me)–and depressingly, the aftermarket prices for this set are probably going to explode even more as collectors realize the Technic LEGO 4×4 Crawler exclusive set has already come and gone!
What do you think, LEGO Collectors? Do you think LEGO should go back on their word and produce another run of these “limited” Technic 4×4 Crawlers to meet demand, or do you think LEGO should abide by their own statements and leave this set as is–being scalped on the aftermarkets for double its original cost (or more)?
If lego going to do this, They should make some more, But on line need to had it first, I been to the LEGOLAND in Carisbad Ca. It was real nice their, The store call Big Shop did not have it. ,But the good thing about it, the Kids love it. Some people said it better than Disneyland, because made for kids only. PS. the 41999 I hope to find one on line.
I just bought one at the store.
I just picked one up at my local store! I think they only have 3 or 4 sets left there. That was close 😛
where is the store at
Arundel mills mall, Maryland.
But, I is in California , But thank you for your Help.
I really hope they do another production run of it. I’m a keen Technic Collector and would love to get this set… But $400 + is too expensive for me. Hopefully LEGO will re-release it, if they do I’ll be so happy!
please rerelease this as it seems as though some people purchased multiple sets and are selling them at incredibly high resale.
