LEGO Winter Village 2014 Santa’s Workshop 10245 Set Revealed!

I make it no secret that I am a complete and utter nut when it comes to Christmas decorations and winter-themed LEGO sets, so it will surprise absolutely nobody that I was over the moon with delight when I heard the rumor that the new 2014 LEGO Winter Village set was going to be a LEGO Santa’s Workshop set. My sources have never let me down, so I was certain that the set was real–and now there’s photo evidence to prove it! The Winter 2014 LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Workshop 10245 set has now been revealed!

LEGO Winter Village Santa's Workshop 10245 Winter 2014 SetI was genuinely afraid that we might have to wait until July to get our first gander at the LEGO 10245 Santa’s Workshop set (because, you know–Christmas in July), but thankfully that’s not the case! Hoth Bricks found and posted the first image of the LEGO Winter Village 2014 set: Santa’s Workshop!

And while I was severely let down by last year’s LEGO Winter Village Market set (I consider it the weakest LEGO Winter Village set), the Santa’s Workshop LEGO set is shaping up to be my very favorite set of the LEGO Winter Village theme.

LEGO 10245 Santa's Workshop Reindeer and Sleigh

As far as holiday LEGO minifigures go, this set is packed! Not only do you get a coveted LEGO Santa Claus minifigure and a LEGO Mrs. Claus minifigure, but you’re getting four different LEGO Elves! If you failed to army-build the LEGO Minifigures Series 11 Holiday Elf minifigure, that’s okay, because now there are plenty of unique elves to hang out at the North Pole!

In addition to that, we’re getting five brick-built LEGO Reindeer in the set, who have the arduous task of pulling Santa’s (surprisingly great-looking) sleigh! I’m surprise LEGO didn’t have any of these reindeer a red nose, but that’ll be an easy enough mod for any LEGO collector to make it about half a second.

And while the LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Workshop building itself isn’t quite as large as some of the past LEGO Winter Village buildings, it still has a gorgeous exterior design. I know that some fans prefer realism in their Winter Village LEGO dioramas, but I’ll never complain about a set that gives us a home for LEGO Santa! In short, I am in love with this LEGO Winter Village Santa’s Workshop 10245 set! Take my money, LEGO. It’s all yours. (At least, what you haven’t taken already.)

The LEGO Santa’s Workshop set is scheduled for release in Fall 2014. There’s no known piece count or price yet for the set, but I’ll post an update when that information is available–and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and photos beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed.

Based off our first image of the 10245 LEGO Santa’s Workshop set, what are your thoughts, LEGO fans? Will Santa’s Workshop be a must-have addition to your LEGO Winter Village, or are you only in the market for more “realistic” winter fare?

LEGO Winter Village 2014 Santa’s Workshop 10245 Set Revealed! — 10 Comments

  1. This looks really cool, I agree that last years winter set was kin od boring, I feel that it was something that they just threw some “snow: This is a nice set that while it does not fit with the one before 2013 it will be a nice stand alone set. I love the elves and it will be nice to be able to use my extra CMF elf for something other than a placeholder.

  2. Last year’s was disappointing, so am glad this set is coming out as it certainly is more Christmassy! I wonder if we are seeing the full set in the image. The building has an interesting design and I like what I can see of the sleigh so far

  3. I do not feel that last years was that dissapointing, yeah it was not full of the ‘traditional” christmas things but I feel that it was still keeping with the theme. They need to branch out to keep people paying good money for the sets.

  4. I am thrilled with this set! Love the Mrs Clause, too. Thank you for telling us about this.

  5. GREAT scoop!

I think a Santa’s workshop is a very good idea but this one doesn’t impress all that much. I’ve seen MOCs with lots more charm and detail. This looks small and less than festive.

As for the figures & sled too much of them are not new:
    • I’ve got several Santas from minifigs, advent calendars and promo items,
    • Mrs. Santa will be welcome,
    • got tons of elves from last year’s minifigs, different colors I can see but that fails to impress
    • got sleds and a reindeer; maybe these will be cuter, the runners on the sled definitely are and the carriage lights on it are too
    • the tree is SERIOUSLY disappointing; shouldn’t Santa have an impressive Christmas tree? YES, he should! They could have done better looking candy canes too.
    • that toy making/packing machine looks like it has potential. I’m thinking movement from a conveyor belt; hope the toys are clever

Hope it will have a light brick and be priced considerably lower than the earlier sets cause I don’t think it compares with the ones that have preceded it. Sorry. I just don’t and I’m a Christmas junkie too.

As for last year’s market, I thought it was great. I loved the movement in the carousel and all the small booths filled out and added interest to the central plaza of my village. I was so impressed with the engineering that after I built it I even bought a second one so when my grandson is grown enough to crank the carousel we will have all the replacements necessary to keep it going for another generation.

My particular hope is that sometime there will be more caroling figures. Two carolers is a little sad.

    • I agree with you on almost everything. This set definitely look smaller but I find it more interesting than last year. Im hoping next year they will have a solid set to move next to the first 3 (bakery, toy shop, cottage). I am dying to see a train station christmas theme. I will definitely get that set.

  6. I don’t know what I was hoping for (besides a train/station) but this wasn’t quite what I wanted this year. It looks like an ok set, but it might be a bit weird to put Santa’s workshop right next to the rest of the town.

I know there is already a winter train set, but it was before I started collecting the rest of the winter sets and I think it’s kind of ugly anyway (green and white? really?). I want a nice plain steam engine looking train, if I had been on the ball I would have gotten the Emerald Night Train.

All that being said, if this is under $70 I might buy it. My village is already pretty big though.

  7. I’m so disappointed in this set that I could cry. Bet Santa is too!

I’m not clever enough for a MOC overhaul but I think I might buy 2 or 3 of these and hope someone will come up with a most enhanced version I could emulate with my extra bricks.

Maybe there could be a second story that extends out over those pillars on the first floor. That way Santa’s throne could move downstairs where kids could visit him and the workshop upstairs could hold the conveyor. Maybe the tall narrow side could get deeper and Mrs. Claus could get a kitchen.

There might be enough extra bricks to build the reindeer a stable.

I guess it’s good that they kept the cost down but the price is too high when the quality of the village begins to deteriorate.

So, does anyone have any ideas for building plans?
