LEGO Ultra Agents 2015 Sets List & Photos Revealed!

While LEGO Ultra Agents isn’t as high-profile as some of the other original LEGO themes such as LEGO Chima or LEGO Ninjago, and it certainly isn’t the sales juggernaut that the licensed LEGO Star Wars theme is, LEGO Ultra Agents has an indisputable niche of fans who are overjoyed to see that it’s coming back for a second year in January 2015! And while there are only five LEGO Ultra Agents Winter 2015 sets on the way, every one of them includes some fun and exciting elements…

2015 LEGO Ultra Agents UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter 70170 Set

After a successful launch in summer 2014, LEGO Ultra Agents–the successor to the legendary LEGO Agents theme–is coming back in January 2015 with its second wave of sets! Five sets will comprise the LEGO Ultra Agents Winter 2015 sets wave, although images of only four of those sets have surfaced thus far (with the unseen fifth set being the LEGO Ultra Agents 4×4 Agent Patrol 70169 set with Toxitika and P.U.P. figures).

While five sets isn’t a ton for the entire first half of 2015, every single one of the sets that we’ve seen so far is a real winner!

LEGO Ultra Agents 2015 Sets Ultra Copter 70170The largest set in this wave will be the $69.99 LEGO Ultra Agents UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter set. At over 11 cents per piece (614 pieces for $69.99), this set isn’t a fantastic deal, but it does contain many larger and translucent LEGO bricks, so I’ll overlook the straight-up cost-per-piece value this time.

The 70170 LEGO Ultra Copter itself looks sleek and deadly in its black and clear blue color scheme, and I’m always psyched to see a real LEGO helicopter instead of the weird blade-less “helicopters” that LEGO is becoming such fans of producing.

LEGO Solomon Blaze Minifigure from 2015 LEGO 70170 UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter SetThe only repacked LEGO Ultra Agent included in this set is another LEGO Solomon Blaze minifigure, which looks to be exactly the same as it was when released in 2014. The set will also include hero minifigures of LEGO Agent Calia Phoenix and an unknown LEGO agent.

2015 LEGO Ultra Agents AntiMatter Minifigure from LEGO 70170As awesome as the LEGO Ultra Agents Ultra Copter vehicle itself and the heroes are, I think the high point of LEGO 70170 is actually the LEGO AntiMatter minifigure that comes with the set! The mastermind behind all of the other villains in the LEGO Ultra Agents theme, LEGO Anti-Matter has a very Dr. Doom/Ronan the Accuser vibe about him with his cape and hammer.

This Anti Matter LEGO minifigure looks fantastic, and is definitely a solid incentive to push LEGO buyers into picking up an already-strong set.

LEGO Ultra Agents Spyclops Infiltration 70166 Box2015 LEGO Ultra Agents Spyclops Infiltration 70166 Set

2015 LEGO Ultra Agents Spyclops Invasion 70166 SetNext up we have the “impulse” buy set of the Winter 2015 LEGO Ultra Agents sets wave, the LEGO 70166 Spyclops Infiltration set. Containing 109 pieces, this nifty little set should retail for around $12.99 in most retail stores. I don’t usually care very much about the extra-small LEGO sets at this price-point, but I really dig the LEGO Spyclops mech’s design.

Despite being the cheapest, I might actually like the 70166 LEGO Spyclops Infiltration set more than any other set in this wave!

70166 LEGO Spyclops Infiltration LEGO Ultra Agents 2015 SetAside from the Spyclops mech walker, this set includes the debut minifigures of a new LEGO Ultra Agents and the first-ever LEGO Spyclops minifigure (not to be confused with the LEGO Agents Spy Clops minifigure, which was a totally-different-and-not-nearly-as-cool guy).

LEGO Spyclops Minifigure from 2015 Ultra Agents LEGO 70166 SetThe LEGO Spyclops minifigure is unfortunately never going to win the “most handsome minifigure award” that’s he’s been pining away for. Poor guy! At least he’ll always have the love and adoration of his three LEGO spider minions that are also included in the LEGO 70166 set!

2015 LEGO Ultra Agents Invizable Gold Getaway 70167 Box

LEGO Ultra Agents 2015 Sets Invizable Gold Getaway 70167 SetAnother new recruit to the LEGO Ultra Agents roster is going to have his hands full with his first mission, as he’s out to catch the LEGO equivalent of the Invisible Man in the 70167 LEGO Invizable Gold Getaway set! At 237 pieces for $19.99–including two brand-new minifigures–this set is a great deal.

I love the LEGO safe that Invizable can drag behind him with a chain, even if it doesn’t make much sense to have a vault that large just to stick three little gold bars in.

LEGO Invizable Minifigure from LEGO Ultra Agents 70167We don’t get LEGO minifigures with clear heads very often (in fact, I can’t think of any off the top of my head), so the LEGO Invizable minifigure is a real treat. Unfortunately for Invizable, even if his head is clear, his clothes and airspeeder are very, very visible. Whoops! LEGO Invizable is going to be a pretty easy target for the Ultra Agents if an invisible head is all he’s got to flaunt as far as powers go.

LEGO 70167 Stealth Bike Chase with LEGO Ultra Agents MinifigureThis set was originally called LEGO Stealth Bike Chase 70167, although I don’t know what’s so stealthy about a bike that seems to transform into some sort of crazy hover vehicle. I think I’d like the LEGO Ultra Agents Stealth Bike better if it didn’t transform, as it honestly looks kind of ridiculous in its hover mode.

LEGO Ultra Agents Winter 2015 Drillex Diamond Job 70168 Vehicle

Last but not least, we have the 70168 LEGO Drillex Diamond Job set. This set features a huge orange drill tank that is under the control of the villainous LEGO Drillex minifigure. Drillex has two drills for hands, which I imagine causes him to run into all kinds of trouble when he has to pick his nose.

I’m a real fanboy of LEGO vehicles that have this style of treads, which I think are super-fun to assemble and roll around the floor. Coupled with the outrageous dual-giant drill design of this set and its flamboyant neon orange color scheme, this set is a definite pick-up for me. And at 312 pieces for $29.99, the LEGO 70168 Drillex Diamond Job set is a very strong value for a very flashy vehicle.

LEGO Agent Curtis Bolt Minifigure from LEGO 70168The LEGO Agent Curtis Bolt minifigure is back, and this time he’s decked out in a blue costume! I actually think this blue outfit looks a lot snazzier than the black suit that the 2014 LEGO Curtis Bolt minifigure was wearing, henceforth making this new Agent Curtis Bolt LEGO minifigure a worthwhile update.

70168 LEGO Drillex Diamond Job Set Ultra Agents 2015 SetThe LEGO Ultra Agents 2015 sets are scheduled to be released in January 2015, but will most likely pop up at various retailers and online sites in the frenzy preceding Christmas 2014 as well. Make sure you ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook, as I send out alerts and updates whenever new sets begin to arrive in stores and online.

What do you think about the Winter LEGO Ultra Agents 2015 sets, LEGO fans? Has LEGO one-upped the initial series of LEGO Ultra Agents sets, or do you think this second LEGO Ultra Agents wave pales in comparison to the sets from Summer 2014?

  1. Great post today! I definitely want to own Drillex Diamond Job (Also, an invisble head can be found in 21006 white house set).

  2. 5 sets and 1 female minifig?!? This is the only theme one of my grand daughters asked for but instead of buying 2 or 3 I’ll buy one and then get 3 or 4 female figs on ebay. Really getting sick of this, LEGO.

    • There’s a strong belief among toy manufacturers that boys don’t like girl characters in their toys, to the point that toylines based on cartoons often leave out female characters with major roles in the show. Toy manufacturers also don’t have a concept of product that is directed at both boys and girls. Everything must be directed at one or the other, but not both, because marketing people only like to do focused advertizing. This is true of a lot of things that are marketed towards young males, like comics and video games.

Girls are supposed to want Lego Friends, Disney Princesses, and Elves. Girls that want “boy toys” are considered a bonus only.

Just to prove how screwed up this industry is, Paul Dini recently went on record pointing out that cartoons intended to have strong boy audiences and sell toys are cancelled if girls start enjoying the show too. I’ve seen speculation that the recent Tron cartoon was given the ax by Disney because its strongest audience was adults. About the only cartoon/toy line that is still allowed to exist despite a large audience outside the target is… My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, which is targeted at young girls. (Where is Pony Kre-o, Hasbro??)

      • Very disappointing but I agree with your analysis. If people who want change keep complaining eventually they might listen. In the meantime I have to keep supplementing the sets with female minifigs from eBay.

  3. “App bricks”? Some kind of augmented reality thing for smart phones and tablet computers? Lego may be going to that over the “code to type in online” thing that they have been using for a while, especially with the entire Fusion line being built around it.
