In case you hadn’t heard, there’s a new 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie on the way from director Michael Bay. I’m not the biggest Michael Bay fan these days (though the theme for his first Transformers movie is the song my wife and I selected as our wedding song), so I’m a bit skeptical of this new TMNT movie. That said, one thing I’ll never turn my nose up at is more LEGO TMNT sets! We have a trio of LEGO TMNT movie sets coming our way this summer, and the first one I’ll discuss is the LEGO Turtle Van Takedown 79115!
The LEGO Ninja Turtles Turtle Van Takedown movie set will include a LEGO Turtle Van that makes me very nostalgic for the good old days of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, and which definitely bears more of a resemblance to the original Turtle Van than the Nickelodeon Shellraiser does. The set also includes a barricade gate and some sort of crazy-looking rocket-powered stretcher.
The Turtle Van Takedown LEGO Ninja Turtles movie set will include four minifigures: Michelangelo, Raphael, Vern and a Foot Soldier. Vern was a cowardly and despised character in the TMNT cartoon I watched as a kid, but clearly he’s going to be a bit different in the Michael Bay universe! Michelangelo and Raphael look way different than I’m used to here, but I’ll probably want them anyway, so I’m glad to get them with the Turtle Van.
The 79115 LEGO Turtle Van Takedown set will contain 368 pieces for a price-tag of $39.99. That’s almost 11 cents per piece, which is slightly over my ideal LEGO price-point, but it’s close enough that I’ll let it slide for a licensed set (this time).
The LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtle Van Takedown 79115 set is scheduled to be released in Summer 2014. I’ll post an update when the official release details for the set are available (as well as pre-order links), and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have more news, photos and updates sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed!
LEGO fans–having seen the first Michael Bay Ninja Turtles movie trailer and images of this first LEGO set, how do you feel about the LEGO 79115 Turtle Van Takedown set? Will this be on your shopping list this summer, or will you be giving all of the movie TMNT sets a big pass?
