We’ve had to wait just a little bit longer for photos of the 2014 LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets than we have for the rest of the LEGO 2014 sets winter offerings, but finally the LEGO TMNT 2014 sets are starting to appear! Today, we got our first look at two of the newest LEGO Ninja Turtles sets, with one hailing from Season 1 and another from the currently airing Season 2! It’s the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Mutation Chamber Unleashed 79119 and T-Rawket Sky Strike 79120!
First up, we’ve got the 79119 LEGO Mutation Chamber Unleashed. This is a bit of a weird set, as it’s based on a single episode from early TMNT Season 1. The minifigures included are a weird version of Raphael, Victor, and the Spider-Bytez BigFig! The high point of this set is unquestionably the big LEGO Spidey-Bytez minifigure–his four articulated legs on top of his head are ultra-cool, and I love the idea of the LEGO Mutation Chamber that “mutates” Victor in Spider-Bytez. Fun stuff here! Thumbs up, LEGO!
The other newly-revealed set is the 79120 LEGO T-Rawket Sky Strike. This set is pretty crazy, and I like the look of both the Kraang UFO and Donatello’s home-built T-Rawket vehicle. The Kirby Bat Minifigure (AKA LEGO Dr. O’ Neil minifigure) is the big draw in this set, but I think the vehicles are as fun as the minifigures this time around. I don’t care much about the Kraang, Michelangelo and Donatello minifigures, but the vehicles and the Dr. O’ Neil figure make this set a must-buy for me (and probably most other big fans of the Nick TMNT cartoon).
The LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles T-Rawket Sky Strike and Mutation Chamber Unleashed sets are scheduled to be released in late winter/early spring 2014. I’ll post an update when more photos of each set are available, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and photo sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.
LEGO had my dollars as soon as I saw the Spider-Bytez BigFig and Dr. O’ Neil Minifigure! What about you, LEGO fans? Are you sold on this year’s TMNT LEGO sets, or are you waiting to see the hi-res photos?
