I went out this morning searching desperately for the 2014 LEGO Ninjago Nindroid MechDragon set, but I came up empty-handed at every store in my area. The voyage wasn’t a total loss, however. In fact–far from it! Though I didn’t even know they’d been released, I came across the quartet of 2013-2014 LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug sets, and used the opportunity to photograph all four…
While I came up short in my quest to obtain the LEGO Ninjago Mech Dragon (but hey–there’s always tomorrow!), I’m glad that I at least got to see the new LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug sets in person. I don’t remember any images of the box backs floating around on the Internet, so I believe these are the first posted photos of the Desolation of Smaug box backs online!
Below you’ll see prices of all four of the new 2014 LEGO Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit sets, along with the piece counts and the prices being charged for these sets at the Toys R Us where I spotted them. These are the prices being charged at my local Toys R Us (but bear in mind that Toys R Us LEGO prices in general do tend to be inflated beyond the suggested retail prices):
2014 LEGO The Hobbit Lake-Town Chase 79013 (Contains 470 Pieces) $54.99
LEGO 2014 The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Dol Guldur Ambush 79011 (217 Pieces) $21.99
2014 LEGO Mirkwood Elf Army 79012 (Contains 276 Pieces) $32.99
2014 LEGO The Hobbit Dol Guldur Battle 79014 (Contains 797 Pieces) $76.99
If you’re looking to add these sets to your LEGO collections, check out your local Toys R Us stores right now! And if you can stand to wait a couple more weeks, you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook and I’ll send out an update once all of the 2013-2014 LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug sets are available at other stores at regular (or even discounted!) prices.
How do you like the final production boxes for these sets, and which of these brand new winter LEGO The Desolation of Smaug sets are you planning on picking up, LEGO fans?
