LEGO Space is still a much-beloved and popular classic LEGO theme, despite the fact that new LEGO Space sets haven’t been produced in years. Even so, the classic LEGO Spaceman minifigure craze is having a resurgence like never before, largely due to the appearance of Benny the 1980’s-something Spaceman in The LEGO Movie. The white Spaceman LEGO figure has been available before, but not in quite a while, so it’s terrific of LEGO to bring him back for new LEGO fans and those who missed him in the past.

I kind of wish that LEGO had included an extra pre-broken white helmet with this Spaceman minifig so that he could be part of Benny’s club, but if the helmets with these promo minifigures are anything like the originals, we’ll be able to break the helmets ourselves without too much fuss (if you so choose)!

There aren’t a whole lot of new LEGO sets expected to be released in September 2014, but with the deluge of summer 2014 LEGO sets and the mass-release of the LEGO Batman Tumbler UCS Set for non-VIPs, I’m sure everyone can find something (or somethings) to spend $99 on and get their free LEGO Spaceman promo minifigure.
