Ordinarily, one of the high points of the whole month for me is posting scans of the next month’s LEGO Store calendar, complete with all of the sales, promotions, and events that will be going on at local LEGO Stores. Well, the April 2014 LEGO Stores Calendar came out about two weeks ago, and I’m only now posting images of the calendar and bringing it up for discussion. Based on that knowledge, you would probably guess my excitement for the LEGO Store April 2014 calendar is fairly low, and you’d be right. April 2014 looks to be one of the most “meh” months at the LEGO Store this year…

The main thing that most folks (including me) look forward to seeing every time there’s a new LEGO Store calendar released are the exclusive LEGO promo offers for that month. March 2014 brought us the insanely popular LEGO Martian Manhunter minifigure promo that sold out three weeks ahead of schedule, and LEGO collectors were hoping for something equally cool (or at least close to as cool) in the LEGO Stores April 2014 calendar. We… didn’t quite get that.

The one and only LEGO Store promo polybag for 4/2014 is the LEGO Friends Stephanie’s Bakery Stand 30113 polybag. Excitement for this free LEGO promo set is exceptionally low, as LEGO 30113 Stephanie’s Bakery Stand was already available for free in December 2013/January 2014 at the LEGO Store. Demand was not exactly the highest for this LEGO Friends polybag in the first place, so I can’t imagine too many people will be heading to the LEGO Store just to grab this LEGO Friends set.

Way, way more exciting than the Stephanie’s Bakery Stand LEGO Friends polybag, however, is the return of double LEGO VIP points from April 1-April 15 2014 at the LEGO Store! This essentially works out to be a free $5 in future LEGO Store credit for every $50 you buy–or 10% cash back (or should I say 10% LEGO credit back?).

This basically means that you’re getting $25 in future store credit for buying a LEGO Movie Metalbeard’s Sea Cow set, $20 credit for a LEGO Simpsons House and so forth. So if you’ve been waiting to buy some LEGO Store exclusives or LEGO 2014 sets, the first half of April 2014 may be the time to do it!

The back of the April 2014 LEGO Stores calendar is even more boring than the front, unfortunately. Highlights of the calendar include ads for Philly Brick Fest 2014 (April 26-27 2014 in Oaks, PA); LEGO KidsFest 2014 (April 25-27 2014 in Michigan); new LEGO Store openings in Las Vegas, NV and Danbury, CT; and new LEGO Legends of Chima Season 2 episodes premiering March 15 2014 at 9:30AM.

The one item that really caught my eye on the calendar, however, is an awesome (kids-only!) LEGO Electro Minifigure T-Shirt! Kids can register for one of the April 2014 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes club meetings to get the limited-edition T-Shirt. Considering we don’t even have a classic Electro minifigure planned yet, I’m pretty envious of this cool shirt the kiddos get next month!
