In case you’ve been in a self-imposed media blackout for the last two years, you may not have heard, but there’s this movie coming out in December 2015: Star Wars The Force Awakens (otherwise known as Star Wars Episode VII). As you might imagine, it’s a pretty big deal. And as such, I don’t think anyone will be surprised to hear that LEGO is planning a whole LEGO Star Wars Episode VII line of sets for later in the year. But you may be surprised to hear that the Summer 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets will be split into two months–with the LEGO Episode VII sets releasing on a national holiday: my birthday!
The first wave of LEGO Star Wars Summer 2015 sets will be released in June 2015. This wave will contain five total sets and zero Episode VII sets (we’ll talk about those shortly). The set’s makeup seems to be two sets from Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace, two sets from Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi and one set of unknown origin (that I think may be from Rebels).
Images of the June 2015 LEGO Star Wars sets likely won’t be revealed until the New York Toy Fair 2015 next month, so I’ll use images of previous versions of the sets below as placeholders for the time being…
LEGO Star Wars Summer 2015 Sets (June 2015)
LEGO Star Wars Classic Flash Speeder 75091 £34.99
“The what now”? If you’re not a huge Star Wars nerd and/or haven’t been collecting LEGO Star Wars from the start, you may have no clue what a “Flash Speeder” is. The Flash Speeders appear only in Episode I, where they’re used as transports for the Naboo Soldiers primarily during the Battle of Naboo.
I don’t imagine that many folks were dying for a new LEGO Flash Speeder, but I think LEGO 75091 will sell decently anyway, as it’s the cheapest of the first wave of LEGO Star Wars 2015 summer sets and likely to include a few army-builder LEGO Naboo Trooper minifigures.
LEGO Star Wars Naboo Starfighter 75092 £54.99
The other Phantom Menace set coming in June will be a new version of the LEGO Naboo Starfighter. We just got the 7877 LEGO Naboo Starfighter a few years ago, and that set is still available on the aftermarket for below its retail price, so I’m really not sure what LEGO’s reasoning is with this set. I love Episode I–it’s my favorite Star Wars movie (seriously)–but this selection is a bit baffling.
LEGO Star Wars Death Star Final Duel 75093 £69.99
Next up we’ve got the 75093 LEGO Death Star Final Duel set! This is obviously going to be a diorama/playset set with a decent-sized environment, given the specific scene selected. This set will have to include minifigures of LEGO Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker–all of which are the only character who really make sense for this set.
I’m really excited to see what LEGO has cooked up for us with this Death Star Final Duel 75093 set!
LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle Tydirium 75094 £79.99
The other Return of the Jedi set is a LEGO 75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium. It’s been several years since the super-popular LEGO Imperial Shuttle 10212 UCS set was released, so the time was right for a mass-market Imperial Shuttle to make itself known.
75094 LEGO ought to be a decent size for the price-point that it’s at, and since this is specifically the hijacked Imperial Shuttle Tydirium, it should come with Rebel minifigures outfitted for Endor instead of Imperials this time.
LEGO Star Wars Imperial Assault Carrier 75106 £99.99
Finally, we come to the 75106 LEGO Imperial Assault Carrier. There’s no well-known vehicle in the Star Wars movies with this name, which means one of three things: 1) the name got botched when this sets list was leaked; 2) the set is based off an upcoming episode of Star Wars Rebels; or 3) it’s an Expanded Universe ship. Personally, I’m hoping for option 2, as I would love a large set for the Rebels cartoon series.
We’ll have to take a wait-and-see approach to this LEGO 75106 set until it debuts at Toy Fair 2015 next month.
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Sets (September 4th, 2015)
We don’t know exactly what LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens sets will be released on this date, but we do know that a new LEGO Episode VII Milennium Falcon (likely LEGO 75105) and a new LEGO Episode VII X-Wing will be released on this date. The seven known LEGO Force Awakens set numbers and costs are below.
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII 75099 £19.99
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII 75100 £39.99
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII 75101 £59.99
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII75102 £69.99
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII 75103 £79.99
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII 75104 £99.99
LEGO Star Wars Episode VII 75105 £129.99
Summer 2015 LEGO Star Wars Sets Wave 2 (September 4, 2015)
And finally, we’ve got another half-dozen LEGO Star Wars sets coming on 9/4/2015, the street date for Star Wars Episode 7 The Force Awakens merchandise! These six sets aren’t specifically flagged as being for The Force Awakens, however, so I’d assume that they’re from Rebels and/or the first six Star Wars movies. If we’re really lucky, we should get to see these at the 2015 Toy Fair in New York next month (although I have very little hope for seeing any of the actual Episode VII sets at that event).
LEGO Star Wars Star Wars 75107 £14.99
LEGO Star Wars Star Wars 75108 £14.99
LEGO Star Wars Star Wars 75109 £19.99
LEGO Star Wars Star Wars 75110 £19.99
LEGO Star Wars Star Wars 75111 £24.99
LEGO Star Wars Star Wars 75112 £29.99
I’ll continue posting updates throughout the year as more news and information are released regarding the remainder of this year’s Star Wars LEGO sets, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and updates beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed.
What do you think about this massive list of a dozen-and-a-half rumored LEGO Star Wars Summer/Fall 2015 sets, LEGO fans? Does anything here get your blood pumping, or are you holding out for concrete details before getting excited?
looks like maybe a couple of battle packs for wave 2
LEGO Star Wars Imperial Assault Carrier 75106 £99.99 most likly will probably be from the new star wars battle front game….. they always try to resale a lego set that will make money off the video game coming out that year
i think i will have to cancel Christmas for my kids this year. If i explain to them its a Star Wars year, i am sure they will understand.
Thanks for the information, good article.
I guess Lego Star Wars has fallen in the same pattern as City, Castle, and Pirates. There’s only so much they can do within the theme, so subject matter gets repeated often.
don’t you think two royal guards could be included in the final duel? the emperor used to have dozens of them around to protect him.
Two Royal Guards will be included with this set, yes. 🙂
