All summer long, rumors have been swirling regarding the Fall 2014 LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series set being a super-sized version of the LEGO Slave I. Well, the old saying goes that where there’s smoke there’s usually fire, and that adage is proven right again today! Just as rumored, the UCS LEGO Star Wars Slave I 75060 set has now been revealed!
LEGO 75060 Slave I UCS will retail for $199.99 for 1996 pieces, making it almost exactly dead-on for my “LEGO value” target of ten cents per piece.
LEGO collectors will finally be able to recreate all of the iconic scenes with the Slave-I from Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back in large scale with this set (which is basically just the Han Solo in Carbonite LEGO being loaded into the now properly-scaled LEGO Slave I’s cargo bay).
The LEGO Boba Fett minifigure included in this set has some terrific printing and deco on it, and is definitely my favorite Boba Fett LEGO has released. I can also always use a new LEGO Bespin Guard minifigure as well. But I’d like to get more than two exciting minifigures from a $200 set, so it’s sort of a bummer that there’s not more interesting figures with this set, such as a new LEGO Lando Calrissian minifigure in his Bespin clothes (and wouldn’t a LEGO Ice Cream Maker Guy minifigure be amazing?!).
The LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Slave I 75060 set will be released in late 2014, and will be exclusive to the online LEGO Store and the chain of official LEGO Stores. I’ll post an update once more information regarding the release of the 75060 LEGO Star Wars Slave I is available, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news, photos and alerts sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed!
Full details and images of the newest LEGO Star Wars UCS set are still a bit sparse, but based on our first peeks, what do you think of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Slave I, LEGO fans? Will LEGO be claiming yet another $200 from your bank account before 2014 is through?
I just bought the tumbler. Ugh, there goes another 200 bones.
The tumbler looks cool, but i like this a lot more because it is minifigure scale.
