I have a nearly-uncountable number of photos and videos from New York Toy Fair 2015 that I haven’t gotten around to posting in articles yet, but before I get back to 2015 Toy Fair coverage there’s some breaking news that needs to come first. For months Star Wars fans have wondered about the identity of the exclusive minifigure packed in since the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated and Expanded book went up for order, and now we know: it’s a new LEGO Prototype Boba Fett minifigure!
But now white Boba has really hit the big-time, because he’s getting his second LEGO Minifigure!
A LEGO white Boba Fett minifigure was previously available as a very limited exclusive back in 2010 (I got one at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando!), and has since become really expensive on the aftermarket.
But with a resurgence in popularity of this design, the time was right for a new Prototype Boba Fett minifigure! He’ll still be an exclusive–except now the LEGO concept Boba Fett will be an exclusive that everyone can have. Good move, LEGO!
The LEGO Prototype Boba Fett minifigure will include a removable helmet and jetpack. Pack-in LEGO figures that come with books don’t always include accessories, but we’re luck that white Boba Fett will come packing his most crucial–and iconic–accessories.
The LEGO Prototype Boba Fett minifigure with LEGO Star Wars Updated and Expanded Character Encyclopedia is now available for order, and is scheduled to be released on April 28th, 2015. The book is currently available for the great discounted price of $14.47 plus free shipping at Amazon (where I have mine ordered), a big discount from the $19 MSRP.
How do you feel about the choice of LEGO Star Wars Prototype Boba Fett figure as the exclusive pack-in with the LEGO Star Wars Updated Character Encyclopedia? Are you happy with a new version of a rare figure, or would you have preferred something all new instead?
Ohhh ya
