Lo and behold, I’ve come to the end of my previews of the LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 sets! If you missed any of the previous LEGO Star Wars 2014 Summer set previews from the 2014 Toy Fair, you can find all of them in the LEGO Star Wars Archives. While there’s still going to be a few LEGO Star Wars exclusive sets to unveil later on this year (including the amazing LEGO Star Wars Sandcrawler I expect to see officially revealed later this month!), for now we come to our last preview: the LEGO Star Wars Jedi Scout Fighter 75051!
While last year’s LEGO Star Wars JEK-14’s Stealth Starfighter 75018 ship was heavily inspired by the classic Star Wars E-Wing from the Expanded Universe, the Jedi Scout Fighter feels much more original and unique. I had to look at this starship a few times before I really warmed up to it, but now I think the design feels like a ton of fun and I’m glad to seeing it immortalized as a Star Wars LEGO set in Summer 2014.
For me, what’s far more exciting about this set than the actual Jedi Scout Fighter LEGO starship is, of course, the minifigures! The LEGO Star Wars 75051 Jedi Scout Fighter will include four minifigures, and three of them are all-new and sure to be hotly-demanded! I’m not psyched for another LEGO JEK-14 minifigure, but his trio of companions should be great.
LEGO didn’t show off the LEGO 75051 Astromech Droid clearly at the New York Toy Fair 2014, but based on the colors on the box, he looks like one of my favorite astromech droids–R2-B1! Poor R2-B1 is one of Queen Amidala’s doomed astromech droids from Star Wars The Phantom Menace, and I’d love to see a similarly-colored astromech droid released in LEGO form!
The LEGO Star Wars Jedi Scout Fighter 75051 set is scheduled to be released in August 2014. The set will include 490 pieces for $59.99. The set isn’t the best value at over 12 cents per piece, but the large size of the ship and the exclusive minifigures make me feel a bit better about this set’s price tag.
Are you excited for the 75051 LEGO Jedi Scout Fighter set, LEGO fans? Would you like to see LEGO produce more sets inspired by LEGO Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles, or are the two sets LEGO has designed based on that story enough for you?
I love that design! It almost reminds me of a slightly deformed Mars Mission alien ship or strike fighter, but at the same time is whole and “fresh”. Great job Lego! But the price is a bit iffy.
I loved the first Jek-14 set. I will definitely be getting this.
This looks beast! I just wish Jek-14 could be in more star wars stuff. I also would like to see more of these sets to come out. please reply and say your opinion.
