This is it! Tonight is the night that Star Wars fans have been waiting for since before they even knew there was something to wait for: Star Wars Force Friday, where hundreds of new Star Wars toys and collectibles will go on sale across the world at midnight! And for LEGO fans, there’s no set coming out tonight that’s bigger, more expensive or more iconic than the LEGO Star Wars Episode VII Millennium Falcon 75105!
On the outside, we can see the brand-new rectangular radar dish, detachable cockpit (?!) and dual spring-loaded shooters on Han Solo’s pride and join. Unfortunately, we can’t see any of the interior in the images currently available of the LEGO Force Awakens Millennium Falcon set, but we know from the catalog description that it will feature a holo-chess board. What other surprises may be in store for us within?!
We also know that this set will be another space-killer, measuring 18″ long by 12″ wide and 5″ tall. If you’re planning to build this beast in anticipation of the new movie, it’s time to clear some shelf space!
This Force Awakens Millennium Falcon LEGO set is the most expensive mass-released brick-built iteration of the Falcon ever, retailing at $149.99 for 1,330 pieces. 11.3 cents per brick isn’t the best price, but the excellent minifigure selection does help to take the sting out of it.
The best figure in this set is unquestionably the old Han Solo minifigure, which I believe is the very first Episode VII Han Solo figure to be released! As far as I’ve heard, no other company will have a Force Awakens Han Solo action figure available on Force Friday, so go get him, Harrison Ford lovers!
The other four unique figures included will be Finn, TFA Chewbacca, Tasu Leech and a Kanjiklub Gang Member minifigure. I have no clue who the latter two characters are, personally, but gang names don’t get much cooler than “Kanjiklub”, do they? Overall, this is an extremely solid range of characters included with the new version of the Falcon!
The LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon 75105 and the rest of the Ep. VII sets will be available online and in stores on 9/4/2015–Force Friday (and my 33rd birthday!). Despite being huge and expensive, this redesigned Millennium Falcon is likely to top many collectors’ shopping lists. How well will it sell at launch? We’ll know very soon!
Sound off, readers: Are you amped up enough about Star Wars Episode 7 to purchase this new Millennium Falcon set for 160 bucks, LEGO fans? If so, what’s driving you to pick it up–and if not, why not?
This is only $10 more than the list price of the 7965 Millennium Falcon, released in 2011, so really not too much of an increase. That being said, I just bought the 2011 one when the prices were cut to clear way for this one, so not so sure I will be buying this one at this time. (Note–not saying I will not ever buy this, just not right now.)
I think this one will be staying around for a while, so not really worried about picking up immediately.
Umm r u plpl forgeting the UCS Falcon?!?
The UCS Falcon was a store exclusive and wasn’t a mass-release item.
