Ever since it was announced at the end of November 2014, LEGO Star Wars collectors had been looking forward to the free LEGO AT-DP promo polybag available at the LEGO Store in January 2015. But I guess that the old saying of “if you snooze, you lose” is true in this case, because I’ve now received official confirmation from the online LEGO Shop that the 30276 LEGO AT-DP is completely sold out!
After waiting patiently for a few days, I finally got a response today from LEGO, though I imagine it’s not the one most folks were hoping for…
“Thanks for getting in touch with us.
I’m so sorry the LEGO® 30274 Star Wars AT-DP is in fact sold out completely. We received such a high amount of orders we quickly sold out of it.
There is a way you might still be able to get the promotional set though! I see based on your address you do have a local LEGO® Brand Retail store close by. I will provide the address and phone number to you so you might be able to give them a call and see if they have one in stock.”
It seems that in this case, LEGO has indeed drastically underestimated the appeal of the LEGO AT-DP polybag, as a promotion that was meant to last 31 days ran out of stock after two. That’s gotta be some kind of record.
If you have a local LEGO Store and want this set, I’d advise heading over as soon as possible for it. If you don’t have a LEGO Store nearby, you can get the LEGO 30274 AT-DP online alone for about $10-$12 shipped–while they last!
Did you manage to get a LEGO 30274 AT-DP set from the online or physical LEGO Stores, collectors? If so, do you think this mini AT-DP Walker is worth the fuss it’s causing?
Why would they only make enough to last a couple of days, let alone advertise it in the catalog when they knew it would sell out…big bummer!
Yes, its cool just to have it.
All gone in four days at The Lego Store in Alabama. Ran out of Friends Mini-Golf sets on the sixth day, and had about 75 flower carts left before the Monthly Mini-Build started. Employee said Shop@Home is selling more than 250 Star Wars sets every hour.
yeah I was greatly disappointed on the 2nd when the Slave 1 and polybag were both out of stock! What gives?
Well, this doesn’t really surprise me as you could buy something as small as a $3.50 star wars magnet that was on sale to get the polybag.
Since I did not get my $50 Ghostbusters set for Christmas, I decided to buy that on Jan 1st at Legos online. Well, besides free shipping for $75, they also had Free Flower Wagon promo, so I bought the Ezra Speeder bike for $20 which resulted in the AT-DP polybag being added, but still needed a little over $5 for a purchase to come to at least the $75 mark. I then noticed they also had a Friends promo. I don’t buy much in Friends but in my Legos “country” I have a rural vacation/recreational area, and the Friends Ice Cream Bike could fit in there (or on a hot day in the suburban area :)), so for $10, I got that and then received the free mini golf course.
So, for $79.97, I received free shipping, 3 free promo items, and 77 in Lego points!
However, even though I ordered January 1st, I checked my shipping status and it is not expected to arrive until Saturday January 10th, so I can’t yet comment on whether the polybag is “worth the fuss”.
You would think that they would still have some available for the people that bought the slave 1. I think they made a bunch of people happy for 4 days, and the annoyed a bunch more for 27 days
