The fiercely controversial 71005 LEGO Simpsons minifigures series blind bags are scheduled to be officially released on May 1st, 2014, just a few weeks away from today. But those hardcore fans of The Simpsons who can’t bear to wait another three weeks-plus to have LEGO The Simpsons minifigures of Ralph Wiggum, Krusty, Apu and so forth of their very own may be in luck! Without fail every LEGO Collectable Minifigures series leaks out to stores early, and this set is no exception–the LEGO Simpsons Minifigures Series is now showing up for sale online and in stores!
Turns out that that was a silly notion, however, as the stocking department at local stores can ignore the release date markings on the LEGO 71005 The Simpsons Minifigures Series just as easily as they’ve ignored every other series release warning!
Over the weekend I received reports from several readers that their local Walmart stores in the United States had stocked the new LEGO 71005 Simpsons Minifigures blind bags cases on the shelves of their local stores and were selling the figures, despite the 5/1/2014 release date for the series. (And thanks to Damien for sending me in the photo of the LEGO Simpsons Minifigures case on the shelf from his local Walmart store!) This isn’t a wholly unexpected development, but I am just a teensy bit surprised by it nonetheless.
As a result of some of the Simpsons LEGO Minifigures Series cases hitting stores early, there are now LEGO Simpsons Minifigures sets and individuals being sold online at an increasing rate. There’s no chance of the market being saturated before the official May 2014 release date, but it’s nice to know that fans who just can’t wait have an option now that will let them get their LEGO The Simpsons minifigures early (for a price!).
LEGO Minifigure collectors–Ready the hunt! The LEGO Simpsons 71005 minifigures are now out there in the wild (if you’re very lucky)! Have you turned up the world’s longest-running TV family in LEGO form at your Walmart store?
I am trying to find them, but my stores need a UPC. Can you see if you can add one to here?
I don’t have the UPC–I haven’t found the figures yet myself. Anyone have the UPC to post?
Is in Arizona
I asked my local TRU store if they had any… they basically confirmed that they did without directly saying so… But also stated that they would not release them prior to the street date. It’s nice to see a company that still respects the rules but… a little frustrating at the same time.
Found them here in Georgia at WalMart & for $2.97 each too…got the full set
Found only two at walmart lisa and maggie, toysrus has them in the back but wont realese them early, checking walgreens todY
Where in GA?
Augusta
Found them at my local Walgreens in St.Louis. A place only diehards look for Lego products. Had all but Milhouse and Apu. Fingers get sore feeling soo many bags.:P
I found them yesterday at Wal-mart, and bought five bags, and was lucky enough not to get a single duplicate.
Marge and Lisa’s skirts are a pain to put on though!
Anyone have some codes to compare to get a list going to identify the figures?
