There are some collectors who are like ninja masters at feeling up LEGO Minifigures blind bags and knowing with 100% certainty what character is inside. I am not one of those people. At my best, I get maybe one out of every two blind bags correct with the “feel” method. Luckily, there’s hope for folks like me! And that hope is that, once again, there’s a LEGO Simpsons Minifigures Series 2 codes list, detailing some of the actual bump codes needed to pull the character you want every time…
Sometimes I’m lucky trying to decipher what’s in a LEGO blind bag solely by touch… and sometimes I’m not. With LEGO Minifigures Series 12, I was not so lucky. It took me over 30 blind bag figures to complete the 16-figure set.
Thankfully, there was salvation for me! Rich over at Pop Critica once again posted the “bump codes” guide for the new LEGO Simpsons Series 2 Minifigures 71009 set this week. He bought his figures in a different part of the country, so I wasn’t sure if his production batch would be the same as mine. But I took the codes with me to compare with the raised bumps on the back of the Simpsons packets at the store, and… BAM! Perfect match!!
Remember: Your absolute best bet is to combine utilizing the LEGO Simpsons Series 2 codes list and touching the blind bags. If it feels like the figure in the bag might be Professor Frink and the bumps on the back of package back it up, you can be pretty dang sure that the Professor Frink minifigure really is in that bag!
In order to make the code list a little bit more mobile-friendly, I went ahead and cut up the images to make them easy to match up with on your phone when in stores. Printing the large-scale list and bringing a paper copy to the store is, of course, every bit as useful (presuming you have a printer handy)!
The sixteen figures that make up the LEGO Series 2 Simpsons Minifigures are as follows:
Sunday Best Homer Simpson Minifigure
Sunday Best Marge Simpson Minifigure
Sunday Best Lisa Simpson Minifigure & Snowball II
Maggie Simpson Minifigure & Santa’s Little Helper
Groundskeeper Willie Minifigure
And for those of you who still don’t want to deal with trying to determine what character is in each blind bag–even by feeling up the bags and using the bump codes list provided–there’s still hope for you too! Individual minifigures and sets of LEGO Simpsons Series 2 are available for order for basically cost plus tax on the aftermarket right now, so if you want to get any specific figure(s) without hunting for them, now is the time to look!
I think I will use the feeling method again with this series. Never got one wrong with that method.
just tried it with a spare that i left in its original packet and it works!
It takes me about an hour to find them all using the feeling method. Simpsons 2 is a bit more challenging than usual since there are quite a few 2×2 plate accessories but still easily doable. I always look forward to a fun time with Lego fans and the employees at the Lego store when a new series is released. If anyone is near Peabody, MA please join me this fall for what is expected to be the monsters series.
I felt out a complete set and thr bump codes are not all accurate…I have never found bump codes posted online to be accurate 100% though. Some match some don’t….
