In most cases, the most exciting of a theme’s LEGO Summer 2015 sets tends to be the largest set, the most expensive set, or the set with the most minifigures. In the case of LEGO Scooby-Doo, however, it’s none of the above. In fact, the most intriguing of all the LEGO Scooby-Doo Summer 2015 sets shown today at New York Toy Fair 2015 is actually the smallest set with the least minifigures–because it’s the only set that wasn’t leaked before the event: the LEGO Scooby-Doo Mummy Museum Mystery 75900!
Luckily, while it may be small and cheap, the Scooby Doo 75900 Mummy Mystery Museum set manages to be a fun, cool addition to the theme!
The main build of the 75900 LEGO set is a museum scene of an archway with an opening sarcophagus under it. There are spotlights you can pivot to “shine” (not really) on the sarcophagus.
The gimmick of the set is that the stairs leading up to the sarcophagus can be swiveled open, revealing the Mummy’s secret stash of gemstones inside! I spot a ruby, an emerald and a sapphire on display, although it’s possible there are one or two more gems inside that I didn’t see.
LEGO 75900 includes three minifigures: a LEGO Scooby-Doo, a LEGO Mummy minifigure (with gems and reused LEGO Minifigures Series headdress) and another LEGO Shaggy (with map and pizza!). We’ve had LEGO mummies and pharohs before, but I do believe this is our first mummy pharoh minifigure!
This (obviously) isn’t the most loaded of the Scooby-Doo LEGO sets, but it does give kids who can’t afford the larger sets an affordable pair of Shaggy and Scooby figures, as well as a fun museum diorama. I really dig this set, even if it’s not quite as extravagant as some of the larger efforts that LEGO has concocted for the Scooby Doo theme.
The final number of pieces contained the LEGO 75900 Mummy Museum Mystery set is still unknown, but we do know that the set will retail for $14.99 when it launches in August 2015 (or sooner–as I’d guess we’ll see this set on shelves by mid-July 2015 at the latest).
I’ll be covering the LEGO Booth at New York Toy Fair all this weekend (and probably well into next week!), so be sure to subscribe to our site and/or ‘like’ the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page, where I share articles, news and photos constantly.
What do you think of the final 2015 summer Scooby-Doo LEGO sets, LEGO fans? Will you be solving the mystery of the mummy this summer, or are you passing on the smallest of the Scooby-Doo sets?
I think this set is perfect for those youngsters who are too old for duplos, but too young to take on the task of a larger lego set. I have a nephew that fits perfectly into that category. His first question to me whenever I get a new Lego set–“How many “people” does the set have?” He loves building and playing with the characters and will just play hours with those and not bug you while you are building the other parts of the set.
Need to get a Speed Buggy to go along with all these Scooby-Doo sets
Uh, acualy Shaggy has a Samwitch ;P
Er sandwitch
Amset-Ra (from PQ) was a pharoah.
