Over the weekend I talked about the flagship of the returning LEGO Pirates 2015 sets wave–the LEGO Pirates Brick Bounty 70413–but of course, what’s a main event set without some smaller sets to populate the undercard? LEGO has five additional LEGO Pirates sets slated for the LEGO Winter 2015 sets release (including the first-ever LEGO Juniors Pirates set!), and photos of four of those sets have already popped up for pirate lovers everywhere to ogle over for the next few months…
2015 LEGO Pirates Soldiers Outpost 70410 Set
LEGO 70410 Soldiers Outpost contains 164 pieces and should retail in the range of $14.99-$19.99. I foresee this being a very popular set for kids saving up their allowances and parents making an impulse holiday gift chocie for their children.
LEGO Pirates 2015 Sets Shipwreck Defense 70409
Second, we have the 2015 LEGO Pirates Shipwreck Defense 70409. This set is pretty basic, as it’s essentially just a generic LEGO pirate minifigure, a generic LEGO Imperial Soldier minifigure, a cannon, and a very simple barricade made of shipwrecked boat pieces.
This is the lowest-priced of the regular-sized LEGO Pirates Winter 2015 sets, with an expected price of $9.99 for 84 pieces. Not a terrific value, but not bad for two minifigures and some random extra diorama pieces. I suspect it will ultimately be cheaper to army-build LEGO Imperial Soldiers minifigures with the LEGO Soldiers Outpost 70410 set, though, if that’s what you’re aiming for.
70412 Soldiers Fort LEGO Pirates Winter 2015 Sets
The last one of the regular-sized Winter 2015 LEGO Pirates sets that photos have leaked out of is the LEGO Soldiers Fort 70412. This set only contains 234 pieces for $24.99, but I was surprised to see the low piece count after looking at the actual LEGO 70412 Soldiers Fort building itself.
The Soldiers Fort LEGO set is actually a surprisingly good-looking build for being made of so few pieces, and the price-point isn’t bad either for containing five minifigures (including the new LEGO Governor Broadside minifigure and the only female LEGO Soldier minifigure in this wave!). This set is nothing for most AFOLs to get amped about, but I think kids and those who never had LEGO Pirates sets as a kid may really like it.
LEGO Juniors Pirate Treasure Hunt 10679
The 57 pieces of this set include a LEGO Pirate Captain minifigure, a LEGO Shark, a LEGO Skeleton, a LEGO rowboat and a LEGO treasure chest. For $9.99 or below, this is a great set to hook kids with.
Images of the final LEGO Pirates 2015 winter set–the LEGO Treasure Island 70411 set–haven’t appeared yet, but I’ll post an update about that 180-piece set once they do, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news, photos and updates beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed!
Are you excited about the return of the very classic-looking LEGO Pirates theme in 2015, LEGO fans? Or are these more simplistic Pirates LEGO sets a little bit too unrefined and unsophisticated for your modern tastes?
i am a bit disappointed – all the sets look like “they could be better”. the junior set is the only one, i think about …
