One of the most popular lines of LEGO sets being released for adults (and young expert builders) each year is the LEGO Creator modular buildings sets, and in March 2013 the newest one will be coming our way: 10232 LEGO Palace Cinema!
We’ve had our fair share of police stations, homes, and hospitals over the years, but this year LEGO is giving us something new: a LEGO movie theater! The LEGO Palace Cinema is a classic, old-time cinema like nothing LEGO has ever done before!
There’s so much to love about the exterior of the LEGO Palace Cinema that it’s tough to describe it all, but my favorite aspects of the cinema’s outside has to be the movie posters hanging on the outside of the theater! Sticking LEGO minifigures in the place of legendary actors on the movie posters is just too cute. I also adore the LEGO billboard with the movie title and showtimes on it.
The LEGO limousine that comes with the set makes this cinema seem much more prestigious, and I’m looking forward to having my Han Solo and Indiana Jones figurines and the like driving in with the Limo! Around the corner of the Palace Cinema, LEGO minifigures can purchase tickets at the box office. I love the little slot at the bottom of the window for the customer to hand his money to the attendant with. That $100 bill being exchanged outside also caught my eye–I guess movie prices were a lot more expensive back in the old days!
Inside the theater there’s a LEGO concession stand! Can’t have a LEGO theater without LEGO Popcorn, LEGO Cotton Candy, and LEGO soft drinks, right!? Super-clever on LEGO’s behalf: I never knew how much of a deep-rooted desire I had for a place for my LEGO minifigures to buy theater snacks until I saw this 2013 LEGO set.
Upstairs, a photographer minifigure takes pictures of a child actress minifigure, who’s evidently coming to see a private screening of her new film! I don’t know how this theater expects to stay in business, having the capacity to only seat six people for each showing of a film, but there’s no denying that the actual theater is both charming and classy. I can definitely see taking someone to this small, intimate theater for a private date or just a fun time out at the movies. And the black-and-white “film” depicted in the theater is absolutely adorable.
The 10232 LEGO Palace Cinema fits right in with the rest of the modular buildings LEGO has released, and (in my opinion) makes the perfect cornerstone to a street full of LEGO modular buildings.
To me, the 2,194 piece LEGO 10232 Palace Cinema is one of the most unique and exciting sets LEGO has released–ever–and I consider it to be an absolute must-buy when it comes available exclusively at the LEGO Online Store for $149.99 in March 2013.
This is just awesome! This can’t even compare to the legos that they had in the 90’s
This will be my first modular building and I getting hopefully next month
