Tonight I was going through my unused cache of photos from the LEGO Booth at New York Toy Fair 2015, and was totally stunned by the sheer number of sets I still haven’t talked about, despite the dozens of articles I’ve already written based off the reveals from the event! And thus, I decided it was time to knock out another half-dozen sets right away by talking about this summer’s new LEGO Ninjago Summer 2015 sets sub-line: the LEGO Ninjago Airjitzu Flyer sets!
But that all will be changing this summer, when a new type of Spinjitzu arrives in the land: Airjutzu!
When I was a kid I remember cheap little toys where you’d pull a ripcord and shoot a rotor spinning into the air. I was never very interested in these sorts of toys, as they lacked character–but I would have been a whole lot more interested if those toys had had flying LEGO ninja minifigures on them!
LEGO will be taking advantage of the untapped potential in the ripcord launched toy market this summer, when they launch a half-dozen LEGO Ninjago Airjitsu Flyer sets!
The six Airjitzu 2015 Summer sets are as follows:
2015 LEGO Ninjago Airjitzu Kai Flyer 70739
70741 Airjitzu Cole Flyer LEGO Ninjago Summer 2015 Set
LEGO Ninjago Airjitzu Zane Flyer 70742
LEGO Ninjago Summer 2015 70743 Airjitzu Morro Flyer
70744 LEGO Ninjago Airjitzu Wrayth Flyer Summer 2015 Set
This is actually a very good assortment of figures, as it includes all four of the main ninjas from the cartoon series–so that kid can get a specific ninja they’re lacking if they want a specific one–as well as the two main villains of this year’s LEGO Ninjago cartoon series: Morro and Wrayth.
Both the LEGO Morro minifigure and Wrayth minifigure are otherwise only available in expensive ($70 and up) sets, so this is a terrific way for kids and collectors to get villainous characters they need without having to buy the (awesome) LEGO Ninjago Morro Dragon set to do so.
The LEGO Ninjago Summer 2015 sets, including the six Airjitzu Flyer sets, are scheduled to be released in August 2015. None of the sets in this range are exclusives, so they all should be readily available at your favorite chain stores by the middle of August.
How do you like the new Ninjago LEGO Airjutzu sets, ninja fans? Are you happy to see Ninjago return to its spinning roots, or would you just as soon never see another spinning Ninjago set again?
Lego got into their heads that the boy-targeted action-adventure line had to include some kind of “game”. Several of the later Bionicle waves had some sort of game, and then the Ninjago spinners of course. The spinners vanished when Chima came along with its Speedorz, and now that Chima is coming to a close, Ninjago is back with these flyers. So only one game at a time is allowed.
I have a question. Has anyone seen skylor in these new ghost themes sets? Shes one of my favorite character which makes me worry shell stay exclusive in that helicopter set.
My nephews are going to love these!
One of the reasons I like the Ninjago sets is that they have the materials to create other Asian builds. I have monitored sets and bought many on sale for this purpose. (Can also double as sets for Kung Fu Panda as well, using Panda Guy for Po, one of Legos green snakes for Viper, a combination of minifig parts for Tigress, but stil trying to figure out how to get a Shifu 🙂
