I’m pretty greedy about finding all of the newest LEGO sets first, which is why I’m out shopping for new stuff literally almost every single day. But sometimes you have to throw in the towel and concede that others have beaten you to the punch, and this is definitely one of those times. Though it hadn’t even occurred to me yet that they might be out at retail this early, three new LEGO sets have now turned up in the United States: the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie sets have now been released!

A couple weeks back, I posted the July 2014 LEGO Store calendar, which–I thought–confirmed that the new Michael Bay TMNT Movie LEGO sets would be released in July 2014. I should know better than to put any stock in the dates on the LEGO Store calendar, however, as new sets without a specific release date are almost always released earlier than the calendar says.

In a bit of a twist, though, it’s not the LEGO Stores or even Toys R Us that have released the LEGO Ninja Turtles movie sets early–it’s LEGOLand California!

Reader Miro78 spotted all three planned LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets at the LEGO Studios store at LEGO Land California over the weekend, and was nice enough to send in photos of the actual sets on the shelves in the LEGO Studio store. Thanks, Miro!

This isn’t a totally unprecedented occurrence–the LEGO Iron Man 3 sets were also released at LEGOLand California before any other store–but it certainly doesn’t happen often. As the sets have obviously now completed production and entered the United States, I would bet that we’ll start seeing these sets appear in local LEGO Stores and Toys R Us stores within the next 7-10 days (if not sooner).

The three sets that have been released (and you can click on each name to go to the article that I’ve read about each) are the LEGO Ninja Turtles Turtle Van Takedown 79115, the LEGO TMNT Big Rig Snow Getaway 79116, and the LEGO Turtle Lair Invasion 79117.

If you want all four movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles LEGO Minifigures, you’ll have to buy all three sets, as Donatello is only included with LEGO 79117 Turtle Lair Invasion and Michelangelo is only packed in with the LEGO 79116 Big Rig Snow Getaway.
