The LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie sets aren’t supposed to be officially released until next week (July 1st, 2014), but that isn’t stopping the world’s largest online retailer from getting the drop on all of their competitors! To the dismay of many, the only way to get LEGO minifigures of all four movie TMNT turtles will be to buy multiple sets–and none of them are cheap. But thanks to a pretty nifty pre-order discount, you can get the classic-inspired LEGO Turtle Van and the other two LEGO TMNT movie sets for at least a bit off their retail prices!
LEGO must have been banking on many collectors feeling the same way, however, as they’ve divvied the LEGO Turtles minifigures up such that the only way to get all four is by buying several of the LEGO Summer 2014 TMNT movie sets.
The LEGO Turtle Van Takedown 79115 would be an insta-buy for me regardless, as this Ninja Turtles van reminds me oh-so-much of the classic TMNT cartoon Turtle Van from when I was a kid. It carries a $39.99 MSRP, but it’s on sale for pre-order for $37.59 with free shipping (and no tax in most states). It’s the smallest discount of the trio of 2014 Ninja Turtles movie sets, but that’s probably because Amazon knows this is going to be the best-seller of the triad!
The LEGO Ninja Turtles Big Rig Snow Getaway is definitely my least-favorite of the three LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie sets coming out next month. I love, love, love that LEGO 79116 comes with LEGO Karai, April O’ Neil and Leonardo minifigures, but the LEGO Big Rig vehicle itself doesn’t get me that excited. I’m pleased that I can get the LEGO Big Rig Snow Getaway set discounted to $61 shipped instead of the $70 plus tax MSRP, as I really want those minifigures of movie April O’ Neil and Karai. Yay Megan Fox!
And finally, we’ve got the granddaddy of all LEGO Ninja Turtles sets (and the biggest LEGO TMNT set ever released): the LEGO Turtle Lair Invasion 79117! If you want the LEGO Donatallo minifigure from the movie, this is the only set that includes him. In fact, this is also the only set that will include the movie versions of Shredder and Splinter as minifigures. I was dreading the $100 price-tag on this, but the marked-down sale price of $86 shipped definitely makes this LEGO Ninja Turtles Turtle Lair set a lot more palatable to me.
The LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie sets are scheduled to be released online and in stores on July 1st, 2014. I just ordered my sets online, so I should have them by the end of next week, so I’ll be able to give my impressions of the sets then. I’m definitely digging the Turtle Lair and Turtle Van sets quite a bit, though!
Hands up, LEGO collectors! Will you be buying any (or all three!) of the Summer 2014 LEGO Ninja Turtles movie sets? If so, will you be using the discounted online prices to do it?
