There’s been a lot of talk going around this week about the “ultimate” edition of The LEGO Movie on DVD/Blu Ray, but I wanted to wait until as many facts as possible about the release came out before discussing it. Well, we still don’t have complete details, but I think it’s time to talk about The LEGO Movie “Everything is Awesome Edition” release! The set will include The LEGO Movie is four formats and a brand-new, exclusive LEGO Vitruvius minifigure–but will the LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome edition be a store exclusive itself…?
While LEGO and Warner Bros. have yet to officially release details regarding the home video release of The LEGO Movie, we’ve already learned a number of details via early listings for the The LEGO Movie. Amazon has the best price around for the LEGO Movie Blu Ray/DVD/3D Bluray/Ultraviolet Digital Copy combo pack at $29.99–$15 off the MSRP.
This week, we also learned that the “special” edition of the LEGO Movie will be entitled “The LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome Edition” and will include the LEGO Movie DVD, Blu Ray, 3-D Blu Ray, Digital Copy and an exclusive Vitruvius minifigure. It’s unknown if this edition is the same one being sold on Amazon for $30 (I strongly suspect it is), but Walmart is pre-selling the “Everything is Awesome Edition” with exclusive minifigure for about $42 (which is, quite frankly, a lot more than I want to spend).
The exclusive LEGO Movie Blu Ray minifigure is a LEGO Movie Prologue Vitruvius minifigure. This figure variant represents Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman) as he appeared at the beginning of the movie (before he was blind). While the attire on the concept art we’ve seen above of the actual LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome Edition Vitruvius figure doesn’t look entirely accurate, keep in mind that that’s only concept art. I’m sure the final production Vitruvius Prologue minifigure will be fully authentic to his appearance in the actual LEGO movie.
At this time LEGO is not officially confirming the Prologue Vitruvius minifigure’s existence or where it will be available, but for this type of major release, I really don’t expect the figure to be a store exclusive. I’ll post am update when specific release details for the Everything is Awesome Edition LEGO Movie are known, and you can ‘Like’ Bricks and Bloks on Facebook to have news and rumors beamed right to your Facebook Newsfeed.
I hope this isn’t an exclusive
Apparently the DVD/Blu/3D version is not going to be sold after all. I had pre-ordered, and it just got cancelled. It seems the only way to get 3D now is the ‘Awesome’ Edition.
