I have been yammering on constantly about The LEGO Movie and how much I couldn’t wait to own it every since I saw the movie on opening day in February–and now the fated day has finally arrived! I ordered my copy of The LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome Edition for the best price online (with no tax and free shipping!), but I didn’t feel like waiting for the mailman to come today to seen the LEGO Movie Blu-Ray and DVD releases in person, so I decided to head out to my local stores and take some photos of what I found…
I intended to wake up bright and early today and head over to my various local chain stores just as they opened at 8AM. That didn’t happen. I actually woke up about 10AM (Oops), but I was over at my local Target and Walmart stores just a few minutes after that.
Target has a terrific sale where you get $10 off if you buy both the LEGO Movie Blu Ray (any edition) and one of three LEGO Movie Sets (Trash Chomper, Ice Cream Machine, Bad Cop’s Pursuit). Considering all three of those sets are already on sale for an additional $5 off this week, that’s a pretty slick deal if you still need one of those sets!
Unfortunately, at the Target I went to the employees decided it would be a good idea to wrap tight security tags around The LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome Edition sets. This wouldn’t be a problem in most cases, but in the case of the Everything is Awesome Edition LEGO Movie set, the straps on the security tags have permanently damaged to plastic case around the set.
If you were planning to pick up The LEGO Movie at Target, you might want to be extra careful that you don’t get a damaged product likes the ones at my store, where literally every LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome Blu-Ray combo pack had had the packaging ruined by the security tags.
Of course, you might be better off with a damaged LEGO Movie Everything is Awesome Edition than none at all! My Walmart store–by 11AM–had sold out of every single copy they had of the movie with exclusive Prologue Vitruvius minifigure. Zoinks!
The LEGO Movie Blu-Ray and DVD sets are available for order online now. Will you be picking up any hard copy version of The LEGO Movie yourselves, LEGO fans? If so, which edition did you end up purchasing?
I got mine at Target. I picked up one with the tight security tag on it then decided to go look and see if the had the new Lego X-Men Sentinel set. No such luck, but the Everything Is Awesome Edition of the movie was right across the aisle, in the movie section and didn’t have the tight security tag on it 🙂 Win!
