A couple of readers wrote in last week to report that they had sighted all nine of the LEGO Mixels Series 3 sets at their local Target stores. Since those sets aren’t due out for a couple of weeks yet and hadn’t even been spotted at the LEGO Stores themselves yet, I figured it must have been some sort of fluke incident. But I decided to check my local Target stores every day–just in case. And sure enough, the entirety of LEGO Mixels Series 3 turned up at my closest Target store yesterday, including all three Green Mixels (Glorp Corp), Purple Mixels (Wiztastics) and Tan Mixels (Spikels)!
I honestly cannot remember a single instance when Target beat every other retailer to the punch by releasing a LEGO product early, but I suppose there’s a first time for everything! Just as my readers had said, Target stores are now receiving early shipments of the Series 3 LEGO Mixels sets. My Target had three of every one of the LEGO Mixels Series 3 figures on the shelf, so they must have received a full case of the series (although the box itself was sadly nowhere to be found).
The LEGO Mixels Series 3 set introduces three new tribes: the Purple Wiztastics Mixels (Mesmo, Magnifo and Wizwuz), the Tan Spikels Mixels (Hoogi, Footi and Scorpi) and the Green Glorp Corp Mixels (Glomp, Glurtz and Torts). The themes for these tribes seem to be magic, spikes, and uh… boogers (apparently).
Based off of my initial impressions of this LEGO Mixels series, I’m not nearly as enthusiastic about Series 3 as I was about Series 2. None of the figures stood out to me as being outright adorable (although I did end up picking up a LEGO Mixels Mesmo 41524 figure for its not-really resemblance to the Pokemon Murkrow). I’ll post a review up for the LEGO 41524 Mesmo set soon.
The Glurt, Magnifo and Hoogi sets all include a LEGO Nixel figure as well, so if you’re looking for Nixels, those are the Series 3 LEGO Mixels sets to grab!
I decided to check my nearest LEGO Store and Toys R Us afterwards just to see if they had gotten the LEGO Series 3 Mixels in as well, but their shelves were all still fully-stocked with the old blue, red, and black Mixels. So it appears that–at least for a couple of days–Target is the place to be if you’re hunting for the new Summer 2014 LEGO Mixels sets!
Fred Meyer has had them for over a week in the Northwest (so quite possibly Kroger, Frys etc elsewhere in the country as well).
Went to my local Lego store yesterday, which had them all!
Target had series 2 out early also
