I have not exactly been the staunchest supporter of the new-for-2014 LEGO Mixels theme, as the aesthetic and feel of the sets is just way, way outside of the box so far as my LEGO sensibilities go. That said, I’d be blind not to see how much passion and enthusiasm many collectors have for LEGO Mixels, so I’ve been on the lookout for LEGO Mixels Series 2 in the United States. I saw some online sellers in the United States selling the Series 2 Mixels LEGO sets earlier this week, so I figured it was time to check stores again. And sure enough, all of LEGO Mixels Series 2 has now been released in United States stores!
Out of annoyance and frustration, I decided to head over to the closest LEGO Store. At a glance I didn’t think they’d received any of the LEGO Mixels toys either, but it turned out that there was a little trough next to the register containing their initial shipment of all nine new LEGO Series 2 Mixels figures!
The nine figures included in this second series are the LEGO Mixels Brown Fang Gang Tribe (Jawg, Gobba, Chomly), the LEGO Mixels Blue Frosticons Tribe (Flurr, Lunk, Slumbo), and the LEGO Mixels Orange Flexers Tribe (Kraw, Tentro, Balk). Ordinarily I’d be all over anything orange that LEGO puts out, but the designs of the Orange Mixels are a bit off-putting to me, making them my least favorite of the new characters being introduced for this summer wave.
There were multiples available at the store of all nine new Summer 2014 LEGO Mixels Wave 2 figures, so it doesn’t appear that any of the toys are going to be scarce or shortpacked (nor would I expect them to be).
So if you’re a LEGO Mixels collector, let the hunt begin! I can confirm that LEGO Stores are now receiving the LEGO Mixels Series 2 toys, and have also heard reports of Toys R Us receiving the Series 2 Mixels (though I have not seen them there yet myself). Other chains like Walmart and Target should start to receive the LEGO Mixels Brown, Blue and Orange Tribes by early June 2014.
Now that a fresh batch of nine new Mixels figures have been seen in the wild, are you going on the prowl for any of the new batch, LEGO fans?
Has anyone found the new Summer 2014 LEGO Hero Factory & Star Wars sets in the U.S. and Canada yet?
I picked up series 2 at target this past weekend.
