What I thought was going to be a very quiet week for LEGO news has turned out to be quite an eventful one! From the LEGO Mixels Series 4 sets in stores to the hi-res photos of the Avengers Age of Ultron sets to the debut of LEGO Scooby-Doo, it’s been a crazy week! But there’s one last thing to talk about this week, and it’s certain to divide collectors: Halloween-themed LEGO Minifigures Series 14 71010 figures have now been revealed!
But, well… LEGO has found (or just plain made up) some new monsters to make minifigures of–monsters that I reckon nobody was expecting!
The eleven leaked LEGO 71010 Minifigures Series 14 figures appear to be:
1. Rock Star Frankenstein Minifigure
2. Zombie Businessman Minifigure
3. Zombie Cheerleader Minifigure
4. Lady Vampire Minifigure
5. Classic Witch Minifigure
6. Flytrap Suit Guy Minifigure
7. Grey Werewolf Minifigure
8. Tiger Girl Minifigure
9. Zombie Pirate Captain Minifigure
10. Mad Scientist Minifigure
11. Skeleton Suit Guy Minifigure
….Wow. Now those are some “unique” choices.
At a glance, this is one of the craziest Halloween related lineups I’ve ever seen in collectibles. Pirate Zombies and rock star Frankensteins and Cheerleader Zombies–oh my! The Mad Scientist also looks suspiciously like a Despicable Me Minion. Hmmm.
When I first saw the Tiger Girl minifigure, my mind immediately flashed to Wonder Woman’s arch-nemesis, Cheetah. Could a Cheetah minifigure be coming in the 2016 LEGO Justice League sets? I hope so!
The other intriguing figure in this series is the new grey LEGO Werewolf minifigure, who either is the monster form of the lumberjack minifigure from Series 5… Or ate him!
I’ll post updates here and to the Bricks and Bloks Facebook Page as more details on LEGO Minifigures Series 14 are revealed, so stay tuned if you’re intrigued by this October 2015 releasing CMF set.
Based off of these early images, what do you think of LEGO Minifigures Series 14, collectors? Is this Halloween/Monster themed Collectable Minifigure Series looking promising to you, or do you wish this series was as fake as a horror movie?
I too have mixed feelings about those…
Excited for the zombies, so I can populate my zombie “army”.
The rest? I don’t really care for them and will probably not buy them.
I don’t mind the themed set, since it allows them to include some stuff they probably wouldn’t do otherwise (like the rock star Frankenstein), plus gives consumers a bit more of a heads up of what they’ll be getting (it might not be the monster you want, but it’s gonna be a monster). But I might pick up a couple of these for fun, but I’m not going to be actively looking for them like with prior sets, as so far there’s nothing that I feel like I must have. But, I could see other sets where I wanted everything (I’d be all over a castle/fantasy theme set, as well as a Marvel superheroes set, if we ever get so lucky).
I could easily see kids being super-excited about this wave, though. and timing-wise, it would go nicely with the Scooby Doo sets.
I think it is no mere coincidence that a monster set is being released in the same year new Scooby Doo sets are. 🙂
These minifigures are from Scooby Doo
Just to be clear, the minifigures from the LEGO Scooby-Doo sets were all shown at the London Toy Fair 2015 this month, and none of the LEGO Minifigures Series 14 figures in these photos are from the Scooby-Doo sets.
Just to be clear I could care less
I was just clarifying that your statement was incorrect. Sorry if that offends you!
They’re not though, because licensed sets have the “pale skin” tone while some of these have yellow skin tones, and they never mix em together nowadays.
There’s a vocal contingent that thinks these are fakes.
And being a HUUUGE monster fan, I’m curious how this wave will shake out.
Indeed, what I find odd is that they’re being revealed so early, even though it looks more like a leak rather than an official announcement.
If I have to suffer through not one but two series totally dedicated to The Simpsons that don’t even really look like Legos, then I will totally take a set dedicated to monsters. Totally stoked for this (if true) and for scooby doo (brick colors and mansion and mystery machine are wicked).
It might technically be a pirate zombie, but all I think of when I see it is “p-p-p-pirate ghost!”. (New task: convert the upcoming Mystery Machine into the Korn van.)
These really would work well to bolster the Scooby-Doo sets.
Very mixed feelings about this set as well. Zombies are interesting and kinda fun, but when half of the figures are zombies it seems kinda lazy. Some of them I like, such as the Lady Vampire and the Cheetah costume, but overall I am just sorta cold about this series.
I am neither for nor against, this, as per a previous comment after two Simpson related series (which look nothing like typical Lego) this doesn’t look as bad as it technically could.
If they are going to do a themed series I would really love a Star Wars issue. There must be at least 16 characters which are not already available in sets!
I love shlocky horror nonsense, so I’m psyched for this set! I’m gonna get the whole thing and stick it in one of those Toys R Us display cases for my Halloween decorations. 😀
Wow, those are awful. And after such an awesome series 13. I really hope this isn’t true. Bar series 12 (what happened there?!) the mini figure series has been of a very high standard. These are just junk. Like the original poster said; it look alike they made up most of ’em. Not good.
This series is insanely awesome! I had always hoped they would do something like this. When bootlegos of zombified versions of classic minifigures started showing up, I figured they would probably try to get ahead of the curve with such a series. This is the best series ever, by far. Flytrap guy is unfortunately going to be the new Hot Dog Guy — shortpacked, easy to find, and commanding high prices on ebay. I sure wouldn’t mind growing a whole garden of that figure!
I really kind of like this set. Some of us do Halloween displays and these figures will allow us to enrich those displays with added figures. Now, I am not saying I will buy all the figures, but certainly will be buying at least a few!
